Too bad they can't do the decent and respectable thing and remove Pam Zekman's bio from the web site instead of trying to exploit her name/work/image.

Same with KCBS. They still list Tara Finestone as their VP/News Director on their website, even though she has been gone for a while.

It looks like a unfinshed work, but due to COVID, the station's creative services team did this with shots of the anchors were photographed by Jaime Khan, whom is previously involving shot photographs of the station's personalities. They did not use the "Look N" graphics!

IMHO, it's not bad. I like it. Minimalist and classy. Genuine and warm. It fits both of them well.

Obviously was not on good terms also, since she didn't appear to have been interviewed for this, or maybe she declined???? As for the reason, we might never know, but I have my suspicions it might be for the same reasons she was reportedly reprimanded for back in the early 2000's.

What was she reprimanded for in the early 2000's?

KHOU is the next station to produce the CBS Weekend News.

I like the nod that Mia did to Scott Pelley with the "For all of us at CBS News in Texas and around the World"

Another senior local news anchor is signing off at CTV.

Ken Shaw, the long time anchor of CFTO/CTV Toronto's noon ant 6 PM newscasts, is leaving his post on the anchor desk in January 2020. He will still be part of the CTV News team doing special projects for at least the next year. A Frank magazine article in November had suggested that CTV may have pushed Shaw out as part of a round of layoffs in October.

Shaw is the latest long-serving local news anchors at the CTV network to leave. On November 14, Gord Leclerc, one of CKY/CTV Winnipeg's main anchors for 24 years, was unceremoniously let go after presenting the station's noon newscast.

In September, CFRN/CTV Edmonton's Daryl McIntyre ended his 33-year run as that station's top news presenter; he had stated publicly that he was forced to take a buyout.

In April 2018, CTV also let go Tamara Taggart and Mike Killeen, the two principal anchors at CIVT/CTV Vancouver. Tamara had been at CIVT since the launch of that station in 1999.

Some of the legacy news anchors that remain across the CTV network are Steve Murphy and Bruce Frisko (ATV/CTV Atlantic), Mutsumi Takahashi (CFCF/CTV Montreal), Ian White (CFCN/CTV Calgary), and Jim Chricton (CHWI/CTV Windsor).

Christine Bentley got fired from CFTO, was anchor of the 6pm longer than Ken Shaw yet he got a few more years than her. Oh well. Nathan Downer is now the 12PM news co-anchor and on January 7, will be the 6PM news co-anchor. I like him.

He didn't retire. He was forced to take a buyout. He mentioned on air that he wasn't retiring, but that he was leaving CFRN/CTV Edmonton. This Edmonton Journal article also mentions it. I am getting the sense from his interviews that he really didn't want to leave yet. It really sucks he didn't leave on his own terms, but he had a lovely send off on air. Cool to see clips from the Eyewitness News era.

I am also wondering if CTV will also target other long-serving anchors like Ken Shaw (CFTO Toronto), Mutsumi Takahashi (CFCF Montreal), Steve Murphy (ATV Maritimes), or Gord Leclerc (CKY Winnipeg) in order to cut their budgets.

BTW, over at Global Edmonton, Gord Steinke has been anchoring the evening news for about 27 years. He's the last of the old-school news anchors still left in Edmonton.

Christine Bentley was also fired from CTV Toronto. She mentioned it during an interview promoting her show with Kate Wheeler.

Looks like WABC brought back the 5pm talent open. For years now, it has just been the short intro to quickly transition between the 4pm and 5pm newscasts. I wonder if they are doing this as a nod to Diana Williams. She returned from vacation today for her final 10 weeks before she retires.

    No video of it?

What CBS really needs to do (but won't) is leave them the heck alone. At some point, you have to give your local people the opportunity and support needed to right the ship. Plus, they need a GM who is willing to be both an advocate (push back at corporate when necessary) and visionary (put together the right set of newsroom managers (ND, EPs, etc..). No need to reinvent the wheel here, but really have an open and honest 'self-reflection' to address where the problems lie.

That is true, but also how long was Kiernan steering the ship? Almost 10 years. As of Jeff Harris, I may be the only one but I am liking their newscasts. Especially not being afraid of leading the 10PM News with Investigations. It is a different product and I hope that Chicagoans do take notice of that fact. Just with Dave Savini's investigation of Sterogenics and the subsequent passing of Matt Heller and his last interview on CBS 2, that was great journalism. However, I would love to see Mai and Jim together again and a better morning news team. It was a mistake to have let Roseanne go. The 5,6 & 10pm should've been hers.

  9. WNBC's producted suffered under Vicki Burns. When she was in LA for Carmaggedon, KNBC staffers were seriously disturb at how little she cared about that because she doesn't own a car, and on the interwebz it was alleged that she would be out the station by the 5pm News. So we'll see.

So pissed at Channel 2.  She should have been Rob's co-anchor all this time.  Instead, she hadn't even been filling-in on the anchor desk anymore.  Reminds me of how they treated Mary Ann Childers - they hire someone great, management changes a couple hundred times, and before you know it they don't even know who they have right under their nose.  Idiots.  Out of town IDIOTS!

YUP! When Roseanne would fill in with Rob, the newscast seemed way better. She should've been the evening news anchor when Diann was booted out. Would've been 11 years of a great thing...
