  1. Why is TVNT worried about a guy who makes several million and knows exactly what he signed up for with his work schedule?
  2. Can David whispering “goodnight” and the cold fade to black stop as well, while we are putting in our TVNT requests?
  3. It’s hurting my head. I’m guessing the non-licensed assets of KTVA have been sold to Gray, and Gray is putting those non-licensed assets on KYES. so, KTVA is effectively just a license and transmitter now, with no programming?
  4. How sure is everyone that the local station didn’t make this decision? Why is the blame for things people don’t like placed squarely on the corporation? The logo is retro and kinda cool. Not everyone needs to agree, but it is something different.
  5. Not to be that guy, but studio size ≠ set size.
  6. You can say this about most news studios you see on TV.
  7. CNN Center is very much alive if you watch CNN International. They mention Atlanta often as well, something daytime shows based out of New York don’t seem to like to do, even though their control room is in Atlanta (anything after New Day and before The Lead is switched in ATL).
  8. The pooling happens A LOT in SF, for what it’s worth.
  9. Completely off topic (but it’s TVNT so ) I have no idea why Bill St. James hasn’t been used by local stations as they look to replace CVD.
  10. And since design trends are cyclical, I imagine we will soon start to see things like [ FIRST IN HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE ] [ PRESENTED IN UP-CONVERTED DIGITAL 4K ]
  11. The staffing just doesn’t work out sometimes. The right amount of people were off at the wrong time. It happens. Sometimes we make mountains out of molehills here, especially when it comes to substitute anchor situations.
  12. WGN cleaning up just in time for the Nexstar visit tomorrow:
  13. Looks like KRON — and perhaps more Nexstar stations — are venturing into 24/7 news. Which reminded the geek in me of their NewsCenter 4 “24 Hour News — Every Day, Every Hour” days.
  14. The live audience element of the third hour should continue, in my opinion — unless they already have other plans for 6A.
  15. This 413 page thread has a topic?
  16. I can’t get over how ugly those handheld prompter controllers that TEGNA and FOX O&Os use. They’re literally all I can look at whenever I see them in use. You’d think due to their size they could motivate Autoscript to make a more discrete product.
  17. https://corporate.comcast.com/media-center/ctc-comcast-technology-center
  18. If there was nobody else around that was “on-air ready” except for the meteorologist, the weather person would have pulled double duty.
  19. 9:56 and 10:26 are gone as well.
  20. A good broadcast engineer can fix a camera (and many other television components) no matter the size. They're constantly cracking open ENG cameras to repair/replace parts that got damaged in the field.
  21. Can't speak for the age, though easily they could be 10-15 years old. You can pretty easily replace parts in a camera to make them last several decades. Judging by the size of the temporary set-up, they probably only had 1 camera operator out there (I am guessing it's the same person who normally operates the robotics.)
  22. Obviously related to preparations for the launch...they have camera operators tonight. Judging by the overhead bump shot, it looks like they dusted off their old HD cameras (with the big white box lenses) and I saw someone manually moving the shot. It's sort of weird to see that in local news these days...
  23. If they get new graphics, I hope they keep the "In High Definition" in their copyright. It should stay forever, like "CC" in their open.
