  1. Rare find of a station that ran Telesound And You + Signature together like KPIX and WCIX - some cuts I haven't heard since the 80s there. Looks like someone at KLAS posted a bumper a while back
  2. KTVU Noon 7/1993 - from the early-mid 90s period they used Brave New World for the Noon and early evening weekend newscast
  3. KCRA 1993 Noon - preshow bumper you can hear the direct update of the mid 80s cut
  4. KCRA 11pm 12/31/89 - preshow is from the 83ish package, rest of the cuts from an 88 update KCRA 1993 6:30pm
  5. Looking at that KCPM clip enjoy how 2nd / 3rd place small market news back then was often a time capsule 5 - 7 years behind in presentation
  6. Indeed, and the set got a touchup around then for the transition to the Trivers Myers theme and graphics - but same space they used for years prior You can see at 14:40 here
  7. 2/29/92 KNBC Weekend clip - didn't realize they kept the jazzy sax close into 1992. Guess it changed when the set got updated later in the year.
  8. KGO Channel 7 News Tonight preshow 1988
  9. Good to see some melody back it's a missed branding opportunity for so many shows to use unintrusive music. Would be nice to see GMA bring back the hamlisch signature when things go back to being more lifestyle oriented.
  10. Anyone want to bet the 83ish KPRC theme (also used at KICU San Jose) was a Telesound production http://www.newsmusicsearcharchive.com/#3,1,524 Shrill strings, opens with the repeating text of the anchor names scrolling down seem the giveaways
  11. KNBC Channel 4 News Nightside January 1993 (clip date is wrong) - still using the 1987 open
  12. KNTV 'Kids Report' 1990 At the opening of the San Jose kids museum they set up a booth for kids to do a mock newscast. You get a sample of the Siilvertree 1987 opening theme at the beginning, and then the first part of the closing theme at the end. Always liked how they used a piano for the teletype effect in that theme - you hear it during the close.
  13. KGO 7/25/1990 No talent in the open - Pete Wilson had recently departed for KRON. Not long after this they changed the graphics / logo to something in-house (instead of the Welch / Cap Cities style) and wouldnt' use a talent open for another couple years. And here's the pre-show bumper
  14. Wow that KRON set looks like a precursor to the Welch newsmat with the skyline view and logo superimposed above
  15. I like it - old school without the ABC logo Was that the temp set while they built the 2004-2011 skyline set? Don't remember the 90s set having the blue panels on the side and such a narrow control room mural.
  16. Plenty of opportunity for NBC to figure out news in the prime access 7pm slot in a way that can't be done with MSNBC - so ginning up CNBC will be interesting to see. Leadin was the thing that helped Shep at FOX - not sure how strong that hand is at CNBC from 6-7 when the trading viewers get ready for dinner. He seems a runner to replace Lester whenever he decides to step back but Shep probably feels constrained by a 30 minute network newscast format. He's also maybe a little to close to David Muir in type of audience he'd attract.
  17. Great title - "The News" capital T - fitting for his delivery
  18. 1990s KNBC opens compilation Glad someone there was / is a TV marketing nerd
  19. Wow what a story - too bad for all involved Was hoping some of the KCRA Where the news comes first mystery could be solved via VTS but maybe it was other shops
  20. Great team - epitome of New York
  21. Great channel - also posted the KOFY TV 20 jingle package they'd for the station IDs with viewer pets
  22. Would have figured Torres was the designated secondary for Ritter - forgot about Novarro but he doesn't seem to have the gravitas of Ritter or Torres What's surprised me is Jim Gardner and Ritter are about the same age - would have thought Gardner was about 10 years beyond Bill age wise - they both have a while to run
  23. Caught Josh Einiger doing a “stand up” from home. Delivery and poise were anchor level. Starting to feel like the lead horse when Bill Ritter retires down the line
