  1. The reason it's off is because they're trying to peddle the same BS the White House has been spewing about "Fake News" and trying to paint themselves as "The Truth". They've used the same exact talking points over and over again anytime someone accuses Sinclair of coverage that's favorable to the current White House administration. It's no secret that Sinclair is very supportive of who is currently in the White House right now, which is why I find it so hysterical when they get so defensive when people call them out on it.
  2. A Sinclair station complaining about bias? That's rich!
  3. Interesting since the production of their newscasts is going to shift (if it hasn't already) to WSBT in South Bend which doesn't have the Sinclair graphics as of yet.
  4. They do the same thing with Comet which has become a new guilty pleasure of mine (mainly because I can get my Mystery Science Theater 3000 fix). The funny thing though is that even though it's a network owned by Sinclair, the St. Louis affiliate of it is on KPLR 11.3.
  5. Amen to that. Obviously we're all going to have to agree to disagree. The only reason we're even debating about this is because our President is the one that keeps bringing it up.
  6. I'd say that this guy is hurting WGCL's ratings but that would mean they had any to begin with. But seriously, is there anyway WGCL could theoretically terminate his contract when he does shenanigans like this?
  7. Where did this map come from? It looks like it's missing a few stations (KRON, WISH, WOWK, KRQE), in addition to a whole state (Hawaii and KHON). As far as the endtag, I've noticed that some stations have it customized to their markets and other stations just have a generic "national" version. I guess Nexstar decided to leave it up to each station on how they wanted to handle it.
  8. Translation: The debt is stacking up and ad revenues are much lower than we thought so now we have to cut costs wherever we can. I feel this is just the beginning. Welcome to the next Clear Channel (err...iHeartMedia).
  9. My days of not taking Sinclair's political coverage seriously are certainly coming to a middle. To be fair, as bad as we rip on Nexstar, they're never this blatant about it.
  10. The sad thing is that they're only slightly less stupid than WSYX's actual website address: abc6onyourside.com
  11. Big news out of WJLA, looks like Leon Harris will be leaving the station. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/leon-harris-leaving-wjla/177436
  12. KLAS streams their newscasts on the NewsON app only for some reason. But I agree, Nexstar is way behind the curve when it comes to streaming newscasts and I can only imagine that this is only helping their competition in the long-run. Hopefully when this merger finally goes though, they just use the web department from Media General since their stations actually knew how to make a decent-looking website with streaming ability.
  13. That's not true. They produce "The Allman Report" which is technically considered a news program...although in reality it's just a right-wing talk radio program on TV. The real interesting thing about Sinclair's Tallahassee duopoly though is that the Fox affiliate that Sinclair owns does have newscasts but they're produced by WCTV (aka: The reason WTWC's newscasts never succeeded in the market). I'm wondering if Sinclair is going to keep the status quo or use it's newly formed duopoly to start up a news operation of their own.
  14. I'm wondering if they would be able to treat KJZZ as a satelite of KMYU since the coverage areas of both signals don't overlap each other at all. Right now KMYU's programming is on a subchannel of KUTV in the Wasatch Front.
  15. You'd think a PAC with all that kind of money could invest in better fake news graphics.
  16. Fair enough. I meant to say that in the 90's, KSDK was the leading station in the market. But NBC's sluggish run in the 2000's combined with the mismanagement of KSDK caused it to sink in the ratings while KMOV rose in the ratings to be the new leader in the market.
  17. Yeah, that was a tad overkill. Usually stations doing similar stories like would highlight the history of the station and where the future is taking them but this is the first that I saw that kisses up to the owners of the station so much. But I guess since it's the flagship station, we shouldn't be too surprised.
  18. Considering that he's the Republican front-runnner, I can't say I'm surprised. Setting aside the fact they're basically a propaganda outfit for the Republicans, you do have to give WBFF credit from turning itself from an independent station with no news department into a major Fox affiliate with a growing news department. Congrats to WBFF on 45 years. According to FTVLive, it sounds like they tried to get interviews from the other candidates in order to give it some sign of "balance". You can tell that they haven't been a Sinclair station for long because balance isn't a 4-letter word to them like it is to the corporate folks in Hunt Valley.
  19. Compared to the 90s they aren't. KSDK and KMOV always used to be neck and neck in the ratings and usually KSDK was the winner more often than KMOV was. That changed in the mid 2000's as mismanagement drove the station further down in the ratings allowing KMOV to establish a more solid foothold as the dominant station in the market. Now that KMOV is starting to be mismanaged, both KSDK and KTVI are taking advantage of the situation and now all 3 stations are in a deadheat. From what I heard, Mike Bush was also eligible for the buyout. Some reason he didn't take it, I guess since he's the lead anchor he feels he's in a good spot there. BTW: Here is video of the announcement they made during Friday's 6pm newscast: http://www.ksdk.com/weather/announcement-from-cindy-and-mike/135678263
  20. They're jumping the sinking ship that is KSDK. TEGNA knows how to run decent stations but KSDK is not one of them.
  21. Just happened to notice that BFMTV in France has new graphics and a new logo. You can catch it out on their stream. http://www.bfmtv.com/mediaplayer/live-video/
  22. International Edition: I stumbled on this discovery on Youtube. Apparently it looks like someone at TV3 in Malaysia really likes RTL in The Netherlands because not only did they copy their open, they also copied their graphics and their set. Credit to Bintro on Youtube for first noticing this.
  23. Makes sense, that does seem to be the standard cookie-cutter set that Nexstar uses for their stations in small markets. I will give them credit though for building an actual news department at WZDX similar to what they did with WFXR (actually they're pretty much carbon copies of each other). But I will say that RocketCityNow is a pretty cheesy name for a website, even by Nexstar standards.
  24. KLAF really did debut their local newscasts yesterday. Here is a tour of their new studio and newsroom. http://www.cajunfirst.com/news/local-news/cajunfirst-studio-tour Looks pretty standard for a Nexstar station which makes sense since Lafayette is a small market.
  25. Looks like Sinclair thought it was a good idea as well. The new deal will make WWHO the flagship station while still simulcasting the games on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. Time Warner Cable is still handling the production of the games as well. This means that ASN won't be involved. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/sports/2016/02/26/0225-crew-tv.html
