  1. I'm surprised they haven't done anything like that sooner. Especially since NY1 has had a Spanish language channel for quite some time now.
  2. WINK also operates WXCW so I wonder if this is a stepping stone towards WINK producing newscasts for WUVF/WLZE. Makes sense considering how fast the Spanish-speaking population is growing in Southwest Florida.
  3. I like how they publically dump on WGN America saying "it's a channel "very few people watch". Not exactly professional even if its true. These ever increasing retransmission fees for OTA channels are pretty idiotic and a big contributor to the rising cost of cable. Ironically by doing this, broadcasting companies like Tribune are driving viewers away. That said Spectrum couldve worded this a little more professionally. Off topic: I like the background music even if it's a tad overdramatic.
  4. Here is what Spectrum is running on the channels blacked out. (They also make it known how they really feel about WGN America)
  5. I usually like KDKA but that's a pretty crappy move. He didn't even get to say good bye on the air before they fired him. Probably not. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't WBAL and WIYY some of the best performing stations in Baltimore? I'm sure it's a cash cow for them.
  6. You also forgot to mention their tweets which said "We also offer our stations reporting from the Beltway and beyond that are not partisan or bias in any way." And "we are committed to fair, unbiased journalism". You would think their PR department would have something more believable by now. https://mobile.twitter.com/WeAreSinclair/status/1067926594818199552
  7. That's not fair. Usually the dumbass idiot is still somewhat likeable.
  8. I like it. Definitely more creative than something like "Fox 26 Plus".
  9. What do you mean? It's a very creative and imaginative slogan that doesn't scream "bland" or "corporate" or "generic" at all. EDIT: Its actually Sinclair's mission statement. Why someone thought copying the corporate mission statement verbatim would be a good idea for a slogan is anyones guess (I'm sure Hunt Valley was involved). https://www.glassdoor.com/Overview/Working-at-Sinclair-Broadcast-Group-EI_IE4585.11,35.htm https://mobile.twitter.com/wearesinclair?lang=en That said this was long overdue for WBFF. And it looks like it was worth the wait. Glad they actually put effort into the new set and made it look nice unlike another station down I-95 *cough* WJLA *cough*. With corporate right down the street, youd think they'd want to provide these stations with the best they can possibly have.
  10. It probably would look decent if it wasnt italicized.
  11. Is the L-Bar new or have they been using that for a while?
  12. Good lord people can be stupid. But Kyle Clark hit the nail on the head with that one and handled it better than I ever could.
  13. KTVI Chief Meteorologist Dave Murray announced that he is going to retire in September. Glenn Zimmerman will take his place. https://fox2now.com/2018/07/10/fox-2-meteorologist-dave-murray-to-retire-glenn-zimmerman-chris-higgins-promoted/
  14. I was at a fair in downtown St. Louis today and happened to walk past KMOV. This is what I saw. Make from it what you will.
  15. They have used variations of those logos and graphics in the past. Its definitely the sign of something new ahead but this has been the slowest implementation of this new logo and graphics I've ever seen. Almost all their promos now involve graphics like those. And based on the promos I've seen, they do seem to be going with "KMOV 4". It's time for a refresh, those Belo graphics have been in use for over 4 years now and they haven't aged that well.
  16. I'm getting a TWC/Spectrum News vibe out of CHCH's news graphics.
  17. WPGH only has 772 followers and WUTV only has 229. Other Sinclair stations with no news departments (both are outsourced to the NBC affiliates in their respective markets). https://mobile.twitter.com/fox53wpgh https://mobile.twitter.com/fox29buffalo?lang=en But WXLV has slightly more, they have 1,516 followers. https://mobile.twitter.com/ABC45TV Definitely shows the importance in having an internal news department when it comes to have a strong-performing station.
  18. Allman has also been fired from his talk-show on KFTK-FM. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/167725/kftks-jaime-allman-creates-another-social-media-induced-headache-for-entercom/
  19. If it's like all the other ABC shows, very poorly. All ABC shows perform poorly in STL. KDNL is one of the worst performing affiliates in the country. But the reason ABC doesn't do anything about it is because Sinclair bundles KDNL's affiliation agreement with ABC with it's better performing affiliates like WSYX, KATU, and KOMO (the affiliation agreement was made prior to them buying the Allbritton stations).
  20. Exactly. His whole program was a right-wing opinion based talk show so obviously Sinclair had no problem with that. But it's hard to defend someone when they threaten a high school student. But to be fair, I live in St. Louis and I didn't even know he made those comments. His program on KDNL is so low on the radar that if you asked 10 people in St. Louis about his show, 8 wouldn't know it even existed. I wouldn't be surprised if whatever is on KPLR at those times beat KDNL in the ratings. This was another sad excuse for Sinclair to satisfy their news requirements for their affiliation agreement with ABC. Now Sinclair has to hope that they are able to get KTVI or else they'll have to scramble to come up with another half-ass version of Plan B.
  21. Correct. https://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/pacgot.php?cmte=C00567388&cycle=2016 https://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/lookup2.php?strID=C00567388
  22. The music doesn't bug me as much as the bad CNN knockoff graphics.
  23. I disagree with you about SW Wyoming. Rock Springs/Green River are much closer to Salt Lake than they are to Cheyenne or Casper. And the Salt Lake stations including all the independent ones have been on cable there for the longest time. The only Casper stations on cable there are KTWO, KGWC (because of KGWR), and KCWC. http://www.allwest.com/pages/tv-channels.aspx The rest of what you said does make sense though. The only reason I can think of as to why the Denver DMA is so spotty in Wyoming and Nebraska is because the Denver stations tend to be the go-to for cable systems in regions in isolated parts of the West that couldn't get a local version of a particular network (because the Denver stations came in via satelite). I could be wrong but that's my educated guess at least. I do know that KUSA was the default NBC affilate in Rapid City for that period in time between KEVN losing the NBC affiliation and KNBN starting up.
  24. Although to be fair, KGWC is more deserving of this treatment than any of those other stations you've mentioned. That station was a joke. But then again, so is the Casper TV market as a whole. For a long time it was basically KTWO and everyone else. Then IMWC decided to bring some competition in but they still weren't able to compete. Now that Gray has taken over, Casper is no-longer a one horse town. Although with this Gray deal, who knows if that will change.
