  1. I actually saw that. After the last 4pm tease, they should just less then 10 seconds into the new segment and just immediately, went to the next set of commercials. So basically one of the segments was skipped. Then they had to show those minutes of ads before the beginning of the 4pm show. I was like what its up over there. My theory is they're might be some new folks are running the controls tonight and not the regulars who might be jumping early on their holiday plans.
  2. It's basically the same thing when they show the map with all the spots temps. And if they touch the one in O'Hare, the number expands/highlights. It's like the same thing. They now doing it with the 7-day graphic as they touch the bar and showing the AccuWeather graphic. I'm not sold with the new 7-Day graphic. Looking out to the right doesn't look right. ____ What's up with the lack of commercials on the 6pm tonight? A commercial wanted to come one and the second it shows, it goes back to the look of the Buckingham Fountain. And since there's a lack of ads, they're now re-airing Roz Varon's Weekender segment from the 4pm show. Okay As of 6:22pm/CT, the ads are back.
  3. Retrans Battle Again!!!! This time is Time Warner Cable & LIN Media. Multichannel.com is posting that if a deal doesn't get reached by Friday, May 31st at 5pm/ET, the stations in 14 markets including Buffalo, Green Bay and Hawaii will lose their signals on the cable carrier. TWC stated that LIN is seeking a 50% increase of retransmission fees after they'd reached a deal two years prior. TWC stated that it was hopeful that it can make a deal by that time, but LIN isn't saying anything, at this time.
  4. TVNewsCheck is stating today that WTAE's general sales manager Charles W. Wolfertz, III will become the new President & General Manager of Channel 4 in Pittsburgh. His appointment will go in effect on June 1st. Wolfertz replaces outgoing GM Michael J. Hayes, who will be appointed the next Senior Vice President of Hearst Television.
  5. The Tampa Bay Times is stating that longtime WTSP morning anchor Ginger Gadsden will be leaving the station on June 30. And by the looks like it was her decision to leave.
  6. And the deal is done. The New Age is out in Southern Maine. The Iron & The Cotton is in. Just this Monday, the Assignment of License of WPXT & WPME from New Age Media & MPS Media to Ironwood & Cottonwood Communications was consummated. The question I'm pondering, will New Age Media will unload more properties in the remaining markets like Tallahassee, Gainesville, Chattanooga and their home base in NEPA?
  7. I wasn't aware that they'd use that cue early on. At that time, they'd already over two years into using the new EWN theme. I also don't think that cue included that WABC melody in the beginning at that time. I think someone attach that melody onto the 1994 Series 1 breaking news cue, like recently.
  8. Okay they just played the regular 6pm talent open, then they played the Breaking News stinger. Not the breaking news opening they've been playing at the start of the 5 & 5:30 shows.
  9. I captured the audio of the breaking news open. I captured it as they were finishing airing that police press conference. I knew they were going to air it because of that story and the developments of the Tornado in OK area. That breaking new cue has been used on KABC for god knows how long. Even after they used the NG1 theme in 2006.
  10. No it was a different one. That cue with the one you're talking about is one of those 5 second tag from another theme Series 1. This one was a different one. It was aired at the start of the 6pm open with Charlie Van Dyke stating "This is Breaking News from Channel 7 Eyewitness News" or something along those lines and then they showed what happened in Oklahoma. The cue begins with the WABC Melody, and then you'll hear that . It's like someone smack-dab that melody on there. This obviously had to be customized. They played that open twice, on the 6pm & the 11pm. I missed the open on the 11pm because I saw the stream too late to see it. When I saw it at six, I didn't even notice the vamp part because it was played kind of quietly, until like the 10 secs. into it and then I noticed it. On a different note, when I saw the Sunday morning 9am broadcast online, I was shocked that they got rid of the Series 1 bumper they used to play all the time on the weekends. When did they stop playing that bumper? Was it when they moved to new studio?
  11. I just seen the live stream of WABC's newscast just now and during their 6pm show. When did they start using that customized KABC Breaking News cue for their special "Breaking News" news open? The cue, which they attached the WABC EWN Logo at the beginning. That is very tight.
  12. Like I stated, last night was the last time they'd used the 2007 mic flags. As of this morning, and probably last night at 10pm, that's when the newer WABC's, I mean WLS's mic flags are being used. All the reporters on the field used the newer flags tonight on the 5pm show. Now I wonder if they're going to send the 2007 mic flags to WJLA, since they've been using those mic flags, alone with the circle-7 by itself flags for a minute. But I would love to see them use WABC's mic flag. But serious, when I first saw WABC's new flags in 2011, I fell in love. Now WLS is now using their version of the flag, its almost like pre-1997 all over again. Kudos to WLS for getting a custom WABC flag. I wish the other two Circle 7's to the west get it, but I'm asking for too much.
  13. And I'm not sure if it was used on the 10pm last night, but just this morning, they are now using the new mic flags. And they are a custom version, similar to that of WABC's. On Friday Night, most of the reporters on the field who were reporting from the spots of where the upcoming Dan Ryan rapid transit shutdown will happen, were still using the old 2007 mic flags.
  14. Follow Up Time and some new info relating to Sainte Partners. It appears that the consent to assign the license of KVIQ from Raul to Sainte Partners was approved yesterday. Now while we wait for this to be consummated, B&C states it appears that Sainte Partners will be selling its Medford, OR properties to this new firm by Broadcasting Communications Company, operated by former board chairman for the Fox affiliates, Brian Brady. The properties include MyNetworkTV stations KFBI-LD Medford & K41ID Klamath Falls and Telemundo station KMCW-LP. Just to go deeper the paperwork states that Broadcasting Licenses, L.P. will buy the stations for just $200K. Also come to find out that Broadcasting Licenses is the same licensee of Fox station KMVU 26. So these LPs are being sold by Northwest Broadcasting (aka Stainless).
  15. Bye Bye, ACME! Last month, ACME Communications have sold its last operating asset, its morning program The Daily Buzz to this firm called Mojo Brands Media, LLC for $1.5M. ACME sold its last television assets in New Mexico to Tamer Media, LLC late last year, after selling its Green Bay & Dayton stations to LIN Media in 2011 and its Madison station to Byrne Acquisition Group in 2012.
  16. I wouldn't be shocked if he retreat to WJZY 46 later this year. I thin WCCB has to settle in with doing more with less, since they will be the new CW station. They have to work with what they got, or to find more coverage deals, live local sports programming to try to get the Fox numbers, that will be next to impossible. They will still air the Panthers exhibition games in August, but unless they get some deals with like ESPN Plus for College Footbal & College Basketball, or local high school sports, they have to really trim down. And no doubt the revenue will take a hit post-Fox.
  17. And VO'd by the now late-Bob Vernon (Cosart). RIP.
  18. Those had to be done in-house. They've done that a few months ago, before they replace that 20-year old 10pm tease cue for that WABC promo cue.
  19. And its a Done Deal!!! The deal was consummated yesterday (5/6). KHSL was sold to GOCOM Media, and sister station KNVN was sold to K4 Media Holdings but GOCOM Media will operate KNVN under the grandfathered LMA. This is GOCOM expansion, outside of the central Illinois stations WRSP/WCCU & WBUI. Sinclair just recently bought the non-licensed assets of the central Illinois stations.
  20. I'm thinking more of what he said: But you may never know. They didn't implement those current graphics until after the May books in 2005.
  21. Here's snippets of WLS's 10pm newscast from Thanksgiving 2012 (11/22/12). This was when Ron did the news solo and he'd basically used all the camera angles in the studio. Video Courtesy by PicklePower234 from YT
  22. I saw that on Monday, during the GMA cut-ins. I was wondering what the hell is that thing. Is that a TV Screen or just a image that lights up? I wished they can adjust that light so it won't look as dark when whoever sits there. No wonder why they did the teases downstairs last week, while they added that big thing upstairs.
  23. I was hoping that it was a marketing ploy to drive more viewers into the morning fold, instead of a complete rebrand of the program. But since Miles tenure into the station, he has done many small cosmetic changes. He was interviewed by Lewis Lazare, and Miles stated that he's considering an overall brand promotion campaign. Unless there's a brand campaign that showcase the connecting the anchors to the viewers, I'm thinking they might follow through with changing the set & graphics (which I wouldn't mind). June 3rd will be the 8th anniversary since the graphics they're using now (they're using the HD version, since the original 2005 were never HD) was implemented. And earlier this month (April 8th) was their 7th anniversary since moving downstairs from the third floor to the streetside studio. So I wouldn't mind seeing them implementing new graphics. It could be a good while making a new set however. Don't get me started about the other element, I already touched on that.
  24. Say goodbye to Eyewitness News at 9pm on My54. The Times-Picayune states it appears that WWL-TV will drop its 9pm newscasts on WUPL after tonight's broadcast. The 9pm newscast will be replaced by an interview-driven program entitled "The 504", hosted by Eyewitness Morning News anchor Melanie Hebert. The program will be taped every morning (after the Eyewitness Morning News) every weekday. The station cites that the 9pm news was the lowest-rated program with a 1.1 rating. So they want to free up the staff members to prepare for the Nightwatch show at 10pm on Channel 4.
  25. They didn't say when, but they also air a tease for this morning's morning show last night, with the current name. So it's safe to say the brand change won't be today. Sweeps do start tomorrow, so we'll see when it happens.
