  1. I'm pissed off. :bang: Another one of WLS-TV's hallmark staples could be out the door, and it doesn't involve its newscasts. I checked out Channel 7 earlier yesterday morning after 2:35am, and it appears that it has now starting to air a block of infomercials during the overnight hours on early Saturday and Sunday mornings, in lieu of those Late Night "public domain" movies that they've always have aired. And if you think there isn't any significance, the station has aired those kinds of movies since the station bought a perpetuity license to carry those 1930s, 1940s "RKO, C&C Movietime" films in 1957!!! So they'd aired these movies for 56 years!!!!! Back when they were WBKB. This station was probably the last station in the country to air these kinds of movies on any television station. I'm hoping this is not permanent and those movies come back, because I never remember at any point in time that they've didn't air those kinds of movies late at night on the weekends, and probably before World News Now, they would air this every night before signoff. Earlier on this thread, I'd mentioned that it did have a new late night movie bumper graphic, with the new ABC 7 logo on it. So in my mind, that would make me think they'll probably update the late night movie open. But now it appears, they probably have different plans. Now some of y'all are going to think, why is he bitching about some sort of movies and you weren't even around that time. It's a point of having those movies aired on this station all this time, makes it a tradition of its own. And this really blows, if this move is permanent. 2. Stacey also filled in for Kathy on the 6pm show tonight.
  3. Do you have a source or link of a source? Because I'm trying to find a link of info to verify what you just said.
  4. She wasn't even over there. Was she ever on the air on that new channel?
  5. A newsvan flip over on the highway this morning. WINK states that its station's newsvan was flipped over on its side after one of its tires blew out on Interstate 75, near mile marker 112, in Naples, FL. News reporter Jennifer Ruffes and photographer Lucas Bogg were treated at a hospital with only minor injures, and they were later released.
  6. They also are going to air that 20/20 special at 9pm, an hour before most of country see it, pre-empting that special Bachelor crap to after 2am in the morning (GOOD!!) or later depending on how long their election coverage last. And they still have to air Kimmel & Nightline (in its entirety). I hope the special goes longer than 11:35pm.
  7. Well, after viewing the noon web briefings, since Tuesday, they've since replaced that former afternoon bumper, with that same EWN cue that's used on the 72GO opening to end the briefing, and most of the Weather segments happen towards the last few minutes. I think today, it was Linda who filled in, and I think they went over twelve minutes. But I'm shocked no one mentioned about the Windy City Live news inserts, and its nothing more than basically one full news insert at the top of the hour. The actual WCL show opening doesn't show until after 11:04am, after the news portion is done. At around 11:45-11:50ish, there's another insert where Tracy would do full forecast, and Linda would return to preview the upcoming 4pm show. And during the news insert, it has a modified bug to orbit the ABC 7 logo with the circle WCL logo. If you like that tweak of that graphic, you'll love the 11am one during WCL. It doesn't glow too much, and it's almost transparent. Those local news inserts are also repeated during the noon WCL repeat airing on 7.2. But before this week, I seriously thought this. If they're keeping the late night WCL repeat, are they're going to include those outdated news/weather inserts? When I saw the late night repeat on Monday, I didn't see the news inserts, but I did hear from one of the host that Linda did mention about a news event happened, so I'd assumed that insert already happened. As I'd watched towards the end of the program, it appears that they've edited out the two news/weather inserts from the 11am airing on the 12:07am repeat and WCL is now producing new content (between around 12:55-1:04am) to replace the inserts entitled "Windy City Live AFTER DARK", where its nothing more than a filler of more WCL content to replace those inserts. Those segments are posted online prior to the airing. Hey, if I want to see any news at that time, WLS can be wise and get rid of that Katie repeat and bring back the 10pm repeat of the news, like it was a year ago. Who wants to see that disaster at 1:07am in the morning.
  8. The CW is coming to WWAY. Wilmington Star News posting that in October 1st, Morris' ABC affiliate WWAY will add the CW affiliation on its digital subchannel. Before, folks would have to watch the CW via a cable-only CW plus affiliate or from a neighboring market station in Myrtle Beach. The 3.2 subchannel will be branded Cape Fear CW. Currently, Retro TV occupies the 3.2. That network will move to subchannel 3.3, a week prior to the CW launch. It's also stated that sometime next year, WWAY will add a 10pm newscast, airing after the CW primetime programming.
  9. So the B&C posted today this little LP station in Tennessee got sold for $10.00 [Ten Dollars] and a motor home?!! Really?!! Read the article and see why he wanted a RV? And the worst part, he stated he bought the license of the station for $100,000.
  10. New FCC approval this morning. It has greenlighted the assignment of license of KGNS Laredo to Frontier (through its Yellowstone subsidiary).
  11. Thanks! I would love to see it, should you put it up. I don't too much care for picture quality, since I'm use to seeing WLS's & WABC's live streams and sometimes the quality could get worst. Sometimes it would freeze and I had to refresh the browser. But the most part, to me, it's tolerable. I wonder what they're going do their older wireless online url "abc7togo.com" since it shares the same brand as this new web brief show, "ABC 7 To Go". After all, as many folks have smartphone, they've constantly making or updated newer news, weather, and alarm clock smartphone applications. _________________________________ I forgot to mention this over the weekend. It appears there's another inconsistency. We already see a new logo on this, that's bad enough, when you don't do it for all the other shows. You know the Inside Edition, Jeopardy & Katie slates have the 2007 logo, with Roger Rose saying "Today at blah-blah-blah on ABC 7". Wheel still have (and I assume they haven't changed it yet) that old '98 logo with the "HD" next to it and Roger Thompson saying "Wheel Of Fortune in High-Def. Tonight at 6:30". But the voice on the Live with Kelly & Michael slates is Bill Ratner. Ever since Rose's VO's were back last week, I haven't heard any new VOs from Ratner. But talk about inconsistency!
  12. I can't believe I missed it. I'm happy the NS2k+ afternoon bumper is being used in some capacity, since you'll probably never hear it OTA again, since the 11am show is gone. The web briefs have been around for a good minute, and it seems that this newly-branded web briefing have a strong promise. As long as they don't do any drastic changes with the online show, this could stick for a while.
  13. What Did I say yesterday??!!! Click on that link. May 24, 2008. That was on a Saturday. So with that May 2008 graphics change, and that implementation of the new streetside studio, both occasions happened on a Saturday. Now could we break the trend tomorrow? This has nothing to do with this topic but Kelly & Michael start their new season tomorrow at 9am, could a new graphic change for EWN come on Labor Day?!! I wouldn't hold my breath if it doesn't happen tomorrow. In fact about it, I don't see any issue with the graphics they already have. However, we were promised a new open with the new ABC logo this month, so I'm thinking it might be just that, and nothing else.
  14. Lazare posted on Friday that WCL's ratings in August did slip. The show cited that most of the shows were on repeats that month. Tomorrow will be a very interesting day. First time in more than a decade Live returns to Channel 7, but the very first time to hit that lucrative 9am timeslot.
  15. I don't think they ever did a gfx change during the late evening newscasts. May 2008 graphics changed happened at 6pm. So if they want to do a graphics change on a Saturday, they'll just do it on the first news smoking. And that 11:30 is a tentative time, since Saturday Night College Football games tend to go even later. So get used to the 35 minute late Saturday Night news until November.
  16. A reminder, since College Football starts back up today, so they're having the early news on at (or after) 7pm (depending on when the 3:30 game ends). I wouldn't hold my breath, should this "new look" doesn't get implemented today. But Saturdays have had a track record of new looks implementing on that day of the week. So its possible.
  17. No, I meant a promo of an upcoming LIVE episode on this station, thus showing the graphic above. They've be promoting the move since early August. August 5th to be exact. They even had the hosts of Windy City Live going to NYC to do the promos with the LIVE hosts, since WCL is moving to 11am as well. My apologies for not elaborating.
  18. I just saw this minutes ago. In fact about it, this was THE first time today the station had aired the LIVE promo.
  19. With how the format WCL is, it would be highly difficult and to me, it would be completely stupid to truncate that format from an hour, to 30 minutes. I don't see that happen, should it ever be the case. Dumbo Idler (That's what I said) decided to keep WCL in lieu of the 11am news. So we'll see if this change either helps or hurt in the ratings. Like I stated before, this should be an opportune time for the other stations to promote their midday news like a hawk. WGN should be promoting crazy since they'll be all local at 9am.
  20. Sylvia is not coming back, as she was released back in June. I stated I wished she would be their for the last day because obviously they both were there since day one of their midday news. They were basically the only anchor pair for this newscast, for that whole entire run. And on the remark's Linda made, she stated Jerry started. But she forgot to mention Mike Caplan did the weather on a good chunk of the early 11:30am days, before Tracy replaced him. But nevertheless, it's sad to see their midday show go. And because of this, this should be open season for the four other stations, to promote its midday news. Especially Channel 9 which will have a new 9am show on Tuesday (they will have a Best of WGN Morning News show this Monday 9am, acc. to their guide) and their 11am.
  21. Yeah, after viewing Linda's 11am sign-off, to me, it was nothing short of an emotional and poignant moment. But I can help it but mentioning this. It would've been more lovely if Sylvia was there with Linda on this final day of the 11am show today. Very Sad. Any station that drops a newscast, despite being one of their low-rated news shows on the weekday, it's sad nevertherless, because to me there's a strong need for it even at midday. These two four-minute local news inserts that will occur during the Windy City Live, wouldn't feel the same way as a successfully full-blown hourly midday news program. I wouldn't be shocked if the other four would see a ratings boost on their midday shows come Monday and the weeks ahead. So we will see how this all pans out. And who knows, should WCL tanks on this new timeslot, we'll probably see the midday news return. But as of now and from here on out, we're in pre-1993 all over again.
  22. What I'm shocked was last week, when they finally change the bug to the new ABC logo (#5), just a day prior, they replaced the 2007 (#4) design for the current design on the show franchises, and their online graphic. I'm shocked that they've done that quickly. As of now I still see the 1998 (#2) logo in their new weather graphics. I strongly thought they would've done that by now. Should WLS does change their graphics, I hope they don't use any animated lower thirds, like many of these other O&Os. Some of those new graphic elements, like those pop-up transitional gfx shots during news reports are exceeding distracting.
  23. I was wondering during the early evening shows tonight, when are they going to changed those logos.
  24. Les Chants Magnétiques II by Jean Michel Jarre Talk about throwback on that curly-curvy "26" logo. This was their best logo.
  25. It sounds like Rose is back doing the 5pm promos, as of 4:41pm/CDT.
