You can charge a little more for ads that are in local news time. That's what buyers want. In case where CBS is competing against one of its own affiliates, it sounds like they hired a couple of people to slap some local news together, but most of the hour is canned material from the network, or from an out-of-market O&O.

    Here is Seattle's A-block.

I knew it would be taped!! Darren’s weather hit did show some poor quality when they ran the tape on its KBCW show.

so how would this work if it’s breaking news? 🙄

I wonder how KSTW in Seattle will be running it’s operation, their Master Control is at KPIX.

Will it be in house or will they rely on KPIX to produce its newscast since they already produce  weather forecasts on its CW11 website with the old 2010 O&O Glossy Eye graphics package and “Inside Sports.” with KBCW’s Nightbeat graphics package

I don't mind that they're going for it, and frankly, KPIX/KBCW should be next, and KOIN/KRCW should get incentives to try it themselves. You already basically had KOVR/KMAX as a half-model of this (their local show is active 4:30-11), and that seems to work pretty well for Sacramento.

THIS!! KPIX needs to hire more staff and ramp up KBCW again.

Why don’t you just cut the KPIX 5 News 6am simulcast off in place of gospel programming that currently airs at 7am.

Then this is when you take advantage and air CBS BAY AREA NEWS at 7am that you just launched yesterday that’s only available online and on PlutoTV in that 7am time slot.

10pm is when you bring back an evening newscast since you cancelled Bay Area Nightbeat.

However KRON and KTVU have been dominating Mornings and the 10pm slot. It would be hard to try and enter the competition race.

Umm... KTLA's 3pm news is on for an hour.

It will actually soon be 4am-2pm, hour break from 2-3pm, 3-7:30pm, 30 minute break at 7:30pm and 8-11:35pm once KABC's news on KDOC end due to the latter's sale to TCT.

My bad didn’t know KTLA had a full hour at 3pm I thought it was online streaming and I thought KDOC was a full hour per it’s tv listings on its site.

Interesting move. Makes me wonder if KBCW will ramp up a 10 pm newscast again or heck even a morning show *shrug*

    Spoke too soon

Starting this Monday. KPIX will be launching an hour long 7am online newscast on CBS NEWS BAY AREA.

one of the anchors IG story mentions that there will be more fun…we’ll see if they loosen up their sleeves like KGO does because ABC7 @ 7 literally screams KTLA. Especially with the lower thirds when they go to break.

  6. Looks more cleaner. I don’t recall the studio being that huge!

The best part is the monitors on the floor. It’s similar to what NBC Sports Bay Area uses on its post game shows. I’m feeling this will be used for elections especially.

Raj does a tour at the last 2 minutes of his video.

a better version of a 360 loop on its studio bump before the break.

Actually, I’m guessing that the KRON isn’t a mistake. I think KNTV in San Francisco might follow suit with KNBC and start a 3pm news of Their own.

That’s going to be an interesting move…

KGO was first to start a half hour 3 pm show called “Getting Answers.” However instead of a traditional newscast, they ask experts questions the viewers want to know in real-time on todays current topics. During commercial breaks the news continues with post interviews and open to more questions on Facebook live that will be answered on air.

KRON airs a full hour of news at 3pm

KPIX just joined the 3pm race as well but only a half hour.

when 3:30 hits KGO and KPIX go live for the Network Evening shows.

KGO continues at 4pm with news while KPIX goes a full hour of Judge Judy until the news at 5 begins.

Fox signed on for Hudson, in the largest markets. The only show NBC has picked up for it's O&O's next season is the daytime strip of Dateline.

And this would explain why KNBC wasn't on this list.

interesting how the article says KRON not KNTV 😆

Apparently, that's a thing across the O&Os now. I saw Q13 in Seattle do the same.

KTVU had a Ukraine Donation Ad in place of the News Ad but it’s been gone for a few weeks now. Yay for being Ad free. 😆

  10. Allen Martin retires from KPIX. You’ll see some former co-anchors from the past at KPIX, KSBW and KFOR in this package.

also KGO did a farewell this morning to General Assignment Reporter Amy Hollyfield who is leaving after 21 years. She started off as a writer then becoming an on air GSA Reporter for ABC7 Mornings.

KPIX only uses the Red Version of First Alert when there’s a storm or heat wave hitting the area. “First Alert Weather Day.”

is KCBS only left in the station group not adopting the branding since KNBC uses it?

The only time I’ve seen an overlap branding was when KTVU during its Cox Days would use StormTracker 2 and KRON (still to this day) uses StormTracker 4 on its radar.
