  1. To me it looks like CBS News lost the lead graphics guy or firm that they used for the last few years. Both this and the current "This Morning" graphics are a huge step back both stylistically and in complexity. They remind me a lot of the chunky, small market looks the network had in the pre-Scott Pelley era.
  2. Re the Apollo 11 videos, I have to wonder if all the "simulations" aired by the networks are the genesis of the "we really didn't go to the moon" conspiracy theories. Insert other media
  3. I think that's a glitch from VizRT. Somehow someone routed the on-air feed back into the input channel used in the tease graphic since there's an effected wipe in it. It just caused an infinite loop.
  4. Looks to me like it might just be a duratrans in the DC studio.
  5. Man that WGGB aircheck was awesome. The Dairy Mart silo building in the commercial at the tail end is in my hometown about a mile from my house! lol
  6. Well that's one heck of a creepy slogan
  7. 1998 called. It wants its HDTV back.
  8. So I just found this spot on the station's YouTube page and the first of the two end screens looks very Hothaus-like to me. Maybe the WGCL/KPTV look?
  9. Yeah Bank Gothic was like one of the hottest fonts at the end of the 90's. No knockoff there.
  10. So I just watched the 10pm live stream and the majority of the filler promos had the updated logo bug in them along with chunkier, nearly solid-white 7 in some of the larger logo animations. If they were prepping for a completely new look they probably wouldn't have done that.
  11. For some reason their 4pm isn't streaming today. That's odd.
  12. This was a Novocom package. I actually have a really low-rez RealPlayer file with one of the extended opens somewhere.
  13. The elements seen on KIDK all come from the "CBS Eyecon" reel which used to be released to stations annually. They consisted of network graphics and b-roll elements that any affiliate could (and still can) use.
  14. I'm pretty sure the 1997 WCNC look was Giant Octopus.
  15. Thanks for the reminder to re-up my "ignore" list.
  16. Does Trib offer paternity leave? If so, expect Anthony DiLorenzo to be off for a bit too.
  17. Man it was good to see that Riverside commercial. That's the amusement park I grew up with, just about 15 minutes down the road from me.
  18. That's not a knockoff. That's the real package. They just don't have Gotham installed on their CG machines.
  19. It's possible it was used for news, but not definitive. A 1979 WFSB aircheck has a very disco-sounding theme that sort of fits but doesn't have the actual signature in it. That would overlap with the "Land of the 3" campaign and all the promos within that aircheck tag with the "Land of the 3" theme.
  20. The crystal bug remains because it's 4x3 safe whereas the CBS TM bug is totally out of 4x3 safe area for the few stations that are holdouts on letterboxing their SD signals.
  21. Bumping a month-old post, but KRBC is probably not a knock-off. A now-defunct company did the look for WVIT and WVTM at the same time, and they also did a few other NBC affiliates. Here's WVTM from 1999
