After nearly 30 years of use, Gari's Advantage has officially been retired by WFSB and replaced with SAM's Guardian.

WTIC 1080 in Hartford as well. They simulcast on an HD-2 feed from WTIC-FM but there is practically no FM availability left even with translators in the market, and I can't see Audacy flipping any of their other 3 stations here since they perform extremely well.

Wikipedia has a 2022-2023 listing, not sure how accurate it is though.

Motion Graphics agencies that did news graphics in the late 90s?
qunewsguy replied to JosephH1998's topic in Graphics
The NBC O&O's and CNBC used Pyburn Films in the mid 90's to mid 2000's. From their website it appears that CNBC is still an occasional client. -
New CBS season kicks off tomorrow. There's a decent chance at least one or two O&Os will fully launch.
-
FX's set design elements are really starting to look cheap and dated. They're especially bad here!
-
Now I'm wondering if any of the O&O's will launch the new look today to coincide with this.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing those on Giant Octopus' original website back in the day. -
Losing someone as daring as Wendy from the mix tends to do things like that. No coincidence that both WBZ and KABC debuted iconic ahead-of-their-time looks under her watch.

It's so bad the video was pulled offline LOL

Call it 615Music v2… Randy Wachtler is back with a new news and production music company. Almost a dozen new news themes out the gate. https://www.11onemusic.com

Why does the 7 in their everyday font have more style than the 7 they used for the logo???

MY 53 (KMSG, Fresno) using unlicensed music?

Bigger concern... someone should be reaching out to Warner Chappell who actually owns the copyright for those works. -
That should change soon with Matt Quinn now in charge. Not saying things will change quickly (100+ stations is a lot to handle), but they'll get there.

CBS O&Os Adopting "First Alert Weather" Branding
qunewsguy replied to Georgie56's topic in The Weather Lab
Likely to kill two birds with one stone. Two of the biggest urgency weather brands are "First Alert" and "Early Warning". Take up portions of both and nobody else can use that sort of brand. -
Matt might beg to differ with you on that...

New promos released by WLS featuring Proxima Nova fonts and a decidedly different end screen.

I forget the firm that did the film but they were EVERYWHERE in the mid 2000's. Partnered with both Hothaus and Giant Octopus to provide footage for a lot of packages. I've seen the raw stuff they shot here in Hartford and they certainly had a lot of talent!

CBS as a brand won't go anywhere. It's got nearly a century of legacy on its own. Still... glad to see they went with Paramount instead of Viacom.

Well Dunne Talent blog is reporting that Linda Kane, who was in charge of Linda Kane Design, has passed away. She pioneered the iconic "flat" graphics looks seen on KTLA, WKYC, and various WB affiliates in the late 90's along with MSNBC's trendy early '00's overhaul.

Wow that morning team is CRINGE. Jeez. Aside from that... that's an odd mashup of graphics. Looks like the old Giant Octopus WABC syndicated look for the opens, the KOIN look for talent bumps, and a mishmash for everything else. So odd!

They're in it for the affiliation not the channel position. Odds are Telemundo will wind up on one of WGCL's subchannels.

Man that's a super slow camera move going on there. I'm not sure I've ever seen a 3-minute truck/pan like that before LOL
