  1. Because if you type in 7online into most smart phone and desktop web browsers it will automatically re-direct you to 7online.com. If it doesn't, it directs you to the default search engine results which will just point you to 7online.com ... so, add the .com if all you really need to do is type "7online" ?
  2. Despite him being right or wrong in previous posts, we do know for sure that at the very least some updated opens are coming because of the social media posts by some WABC anchors. Given WABC's history, new opens also mean some update to the graphics although I don't believe there will be some earth-shattering graphic change.
  3. Wondering if the "new look" will happen the week of 9/23, when ABC debuts the fall season.
  4. Channel 7 will produce a rare one hour prime time 10pm edition of Eyewitness News on Tuesday night for the local political primary results. It'll be followed by the regular edition of Eyewitness News at 11. Earlier Tuesday evening, ABC News will carry the President's live address to the nation. A busy night of news for WABC-TV.
  5. That's a possibility, but is dependent on the ABC O&O tech hub in Fresno, CA. We do know that updated talent opens are coming based on several social media posts from a few EWN anchors this past summer.
  6. I'm talking about the live tease that uses lower thirds.. If it were happening today, they would've used it for the live teases, not wait until 4pm to switch over completely.
  7. You're not.. Because that's exactly what they are..
  8. No new graphics during the 2:59 teaser for First @ 4:00... So likely not today. Maybe next Monday. Hey "nynewsguy" - what happened to the new look this weekend?
  9. Agreed, and no offense taken at all, although "nynewsguy" does seem to work for some entity of ABC. In any case, only thing I'm thinking it is at this point is updated opens and maybe modified graphics. I doubt the graphics (if changed) will be much of leap from what we're currently seeing. And I highly doubt the music will change at all.
  10. My money is on them debuting on a Monday. Since at least 1999, new music and graphics have debuted on Mondays on WABC and sometimes not until the evening newscasts. The only time I recall them debuting something on a weekend was the current street level studio.
  11. Agreed. I always thought they should be the 5pm team. I would miss Lori in the AM but I think Michelle Charlesworth could easily fill that spot.
  12. They use ABC7 for all non-news related promos... anything news related gets the Channel 7 brand.
  13. They dropped "abc7" because they found viewers ID better with "channel 7".. The average Joe almost never will say "abc7"..
  14. I'm assuming it's new talent opens and graphics. Hope the music doesn't change too much.. It's 14 years old this month and still great news music.
  15. On last night's 6pm news, the headlines video had odd backgrounds to them-- one with two ABC7 logos spinning and flashing on the side of the video and another with NewsCopter7 flying behind the video. Looked very weird and cheap.. Almost like those flashing state fair/carnival lights.
  16. DIsney/ABC Television will go through an additional round of layoffs and will not fill many open positions. A majority of these budget cuts will happen at the ABC Owned Station. If nobody was hired yet, it may remain unfilled for a while unless WABC makes enough cuts on the operations/sales side.
  17. They have a slick new promo touting their reporters and that Eyewitness News is all about local news. Saw it first during Sunday's 11pm news. Not sure if it has aired again since or has been on prior to that,
  18. New opens will air in September. They will include the new ABC logo.
  19. Her bio is no longer up on 7online, so looks like her last day has passed already.
  20. WABC had to use LED lighting because of the low ceiling in the studio. Read this artcile from TVNewsCheck for more: http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/2011/10/06/54528/wabcs-new-studio-gives-it-street-cred
  21. Twi things I noticed about EWN Weekends: 1) On Saturday evening, at approximately 5:35pm, they aired an "Eyewitness News Brief". It last about a minute and half, summarized three top stories and had a check on the weather. How long have they been doing this on weekends? 2) I noticed the Sunday morning EWN Brief during GMA Weekend was done from inside the studio and not the newsroom flashcam. Why do the weekday EWN Briefs still originate from the newsroom if the studio is available? Is the newsroom flashcam operated from a different control area where, I presume, the studio and "Live!" are being controlled from?
  22. He's subbing for Joe Torres, who is traveling to Rome for Archbishop Dolan's elevation to Cardinal.
  23. They haven't and from what I remember reading on WABC's AccuWether Chat Board, Bill Evans and Lee Goldberg had been opposed to 7 day forecasts because of how easily just the 4th and 5th day of 5 day forecasts could change. This was about two or three years ago and they said they didn't believe the technology available then could help make a proper 7 day forecast so, I'm assuming, they feel comfortable with whatever technology they currently have to forecast out to day 7.
