  1. Some of these rollouts are easier to do on some platforms that others - depends on what you're working with, and where you're working right now. Some groups--and therefore some local stations--haven't instituted widespread WFH yet. But some have. If WTHR (and WBNS for that matter) are able to do it in this climate, more power to them. I'm not sure it's a top priority for most right now--either for those responsible for execution, or the news consumer.
  2. It doesn't appear Lester Holt's actually on the Nightly set tonight...
  3. Would not shock me if the reporter's green-screening it at home, which necessitated the virtual set.
  4. They've been running that promo since at least the end of last year.
  5. They're really going to change stuff out during a national emergency? Ooooooook.
  6. Truth be told, I don't think it's coming back.
  7. I mean...they're not allowed in the building. What do you want them to do, another LA show? I'm guessing there may be are labor reasons why CTM can go to the Ed Sullivan Theater and WCBS (or Last Week Tonight or whatever's still in the building) couldn't go to...say, the 60 Minutes building across the street. Or the Daily Show set which isn't far away from the Broadcast Center. Or what was the TRL space in Times Square. Honestly, I don't see a big reason why WCBS also couldn't also do the Sullivan theater unless they're really trying to adhere to this distancing--and if that's the
  8. This would be EXTREMELY bad for broadcasting if it happens. You'll be looking at network affiliations going to .2s in some major cities if this happens. But because it's stock-based, it probably won't happen.
  9. Motion to temporarily change title to In and Quarantin' in these uncertain times.
  10. I would not expect further launches on the Scripps stations until this Coronavirus madness subsides, to be honest. Bigger fish to fry. Everyone's WFH. Hard to launch that kind of stuff when you're not near the tech.
  11. Right now, the cable news channels are the only dedicated source of revenue some organizations *have* right now.
  12. As I understand it, there is no creative director currently at WXIN/WTTV--so this may have been mandated from corporate.
  13. I don't see an official announcement of a suspension anywhere... If anything, maybe they need to be on with no audience--with no other televised sports they could actually get a lot of extra exposure!
  14. (In the right spot this time) **KCBS IN LA** is producing WCBS’s evening newscasts tonight. Wow.
  15. New news / new thread / mods move if I'm out of line. Well. Would. You. Look. At. This. https://deadline.com/2020/03/byron-allen-bid-broadcaster-tegna-1202880413/ It's Allen, Apollo, and Gray in the running. I made a Speculatron post entertaining this possibility for the conflict markets in a Gray/TEGNA situation not even a week ago. What happens when art becomes life?
  16. It is exactly the reason - CBS Sports Network is in that building. HQ comes from Florida.
  17. They JUST evacuated that building. Wouldn’t be shocked if CBSN output comes from DC for a bit as well once they get up and running—problem is a lot of the staff are NYC based.
  18. Don’t be shocked if CBS This Morning comes from DC for a little while. Any idea what’s happening with WCBS? They work in that building too.
  19. Dr. Phil and Sunday's Biden-Sanders debate are also going audience-less, per Deadline. The New York Post seems to think Live with Kelly and Ryan, Tamron Hall, GMA's 2nd hour, and The View will join them. That could be a pretty big blow to some of the game shows ABC tapes in New York too if it lasts - and isn't Jimmy Kimmel taping a new Millionaire this week too?
  20. Are we sure that isn't the same set and not just a duratrans skyline pulled down in front of the newsroom? Looking at the '95 and '97 clips, a lot of the set elements are in the exact same spot...
  21. I guess? But I wouldn't consider that a situation akin to NECN where it made sense to consolidate. News Channel is the only thing NBC has down there right now. Cox/Apollo/WSOC holds the Telemundo affiliation. I'd be hard pressed to find a sports angle unless you think NASCAR is critical to a network's portfolio. So NBC only makes sense as a buyer if they're going to yank the Telemundo affiliation as well--which isn't impossible, mind.
  22. Honestly, this might explain why WNEP got to keep the Move Closer #danceparty.
  23. Um https://deadline.com/2020/03/gray-television-bid-to-acquire-tegna-report-1202875985/
