  1. I imagine since it's rolling dayside news coverage and not a personality-based show, they aren't teasing it. Dayside is essentially "have it on in the background"/"check in occasionally" programming vs. the more opinionated primetime shows or the morning offerings (where the most eyeballs are).
  2. Brian's come a long way when he was known as "Brian Taffe" and working for what was then known as YNN (now Spectrum News) in NY hosting Capital Tonight.
  3. I know it gets its share of critics #onhere, but I don't hate the current WABC look. It's simple (without being too simple), clean, and well-executed. Not everything has to be elaborate and splashy. (Of course, there was the NEWS YORK'S #1 NEWS incident, but...)
  4. Mentioned it in Discord, but Chris Licht at least has to give Shep a call, right? It's almost too good a fit with the vision he has for CNN.
  5. Can't find it in Discord, but after seeing it on TV, it's essentially calling out WSB doing it "just to make money" and stating their (46's) commitment to the community not being temporary. I'll add that 11 Alive has started to take some digs at ANF on some billboards I've seen around town. One says "Breaking News F1RST" and another says "Severe Weather F1RST", with the number 1 in the 11 Alive logo in place of the "I" in the word "FIRST".
  6. In fairness to BBC America, it's an entertainment channel co-owned by AMC Networks and BBC. That said, they did roll a ticker pointing viewers to BBC World News and BBC.com:
  7. I pulled up the Ducks game and it looks like they have a team-specific open. I didn’t record it but if you have ESPN+ you can take a look. With the NBA starting up this week, I’m guessing they’ll roll out team-specific opens for those teams as well. Here in Atlanta they’re still using the generic open for Atlanta United (with a brief highlight reel beforehand), but I’m assuming that will change in 2022.
  8. Hate to hear this about Paul. I remember him from his Weather Channel days.
  9. I have no knowledge of HS football in Missouri, but I’m not liking the Ravens’ chances in that one
  10. Wow. I enjoyed watching Christine when I lived in Charlotte as she and John Carter made a great team. Looking forward to seeing her on FOX 5!
  11. I like the graphics. Surprised some are saying that it's a downgrade from the previous look. There should be plenty of tweaks before the 2020 NFL season begins and as they make their way to other properties, I think.
  12. I'm sure there will be another variation for the other sports it carries.
  13. Today was Brigida Mack's last day at WBTV...she is leaving the station after 10 years. Her reporting work, involvment in the community, as well as launching their 4pm newscast and (now-defunct) 8pm newscast on their .2 (Bounce TV) were really some key reasons why WBTV has overtaken WSOC for No. 1 in the ratings.
  14. Meteorologist Ashley Batey has left WTSP. In the comments, she says that she will announce her next move soon.
  15. That's actually not bad. Obviously a Nexstar package, but not bad.
  16. To add to that, WDCW's 10pm newscast (produced by WTVR) is getting axed too. Always was going to be an uphill battle against FOX 5 in that slot...
  17. Interesting how ESPN's graphics were standardized across all its properties - now each one (SportsCenter, MLB, NBA, CFB, CBB, NFL) has a unique package.
  18. This seems as good a source as any.
  19. "A personnel matter...not related to layoffs made last week by station owner Raycom Media. It also was not a retirement." You can probably read between the lines there.
  20. Saw the debut episode on the FB page and it's totally taped, just like here in ATL with the Late Feed on 11Alive. You can tell when the anchor tosses to weather at the top.
  21. This looks like a syndicated package to me. The KKTV one, though, is definitely a knockoff. The transitions are a dead giveaway.
  22. Does anyone besides WAGA in Atlanta run an hour-long 11pm (10pm CT) newscast on weekdays? It's always been interesting to me that WAGA does it, and at last check it pulls in very respectable ratings.
  23. Wow. I liked Scott, but somehow I feel his style is more suited for 60 Minutes than the CBS Evening News. As for a replacement, I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff Glor is at the top of the list. It gives them a fresh, younger look (he would be the youngest network news anchor at 41, two years younger than David Muir) and could help them gain more ground in the 25-54 demo.
  24. I probably shouldn't post at 1:30am...thanks! You bring up WTHR...would the Wolfes want to sell both stations to a single owner or split it between two? Ideally, I'd think they'd want to deal with one owner (i.e. Scripps), but since there's a conflict in Indy, Scripps getting both is out of the questions. That also means that we can count Sinclair and Nexstar out of buying WBNS, too
