  1. I pulled up the Ducks game and it looks like they have a team-specific open. I didn’t record it but if you have ESPN+ you can take a look. With the NBA starting up this week, I’m guessing they’ll roll out team-specific opens for those teams as well. Here in Atlanta they’re still using the generic open for Atlanta United (with a brief highlight reel beforehand), but I’m assuming that will change in 2022.
  2. Hate to hear this about Paul. I remember him from his Weather Channel days.
  3. Just announced on his radio show moments ago. https://www.newsnationnow.com/entertainment-news/conservative-talk-show-host-rush-limbaugh-dies-at-70/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=t.co&utm_campaign=socialflow
  4. Wasn’t mentioned but it looks like CBS is waiting until next season to update its regular season college basketball graphics. The old score bug was in place for the Kentucky/Auburn game yesterday and the open was the same outside of replacing the old CBS Sports logo with the new one. Instead of the CBS Sports NCAA logo in the upper right hand corner, though, it had a CBS | SEC logo. They did a bracket special prior to the game using the current March Madness graphics, so it remains to be seen if that will carry over through the tournament or be updated.
  5. I have no knowledge of HS football in Missouri, but I’m not liking the Ravens’ chances in that one
  6. Probably the most important news - according to the FAQ, this isn't going anywhere.
  7. There’s a non-zero chance that people will decide whether or not to watch this - outside of some members on this board - due to the bug or whether it’s formatted as “News Nation” or “NewsNation” This is where NewsNation will live or die, and that’s by distribution rights with live streaming platforms. Right now AT&T TV Now is the only one that carries WGNA, but I think part of the reason why it’s not come to retrans agreements with YTTV, Sling, Hulu, FuboTV, etc. is that there’s not really anything on there that is truly worth watching. In The Heat of the Night reruns are a carryover from WGN’s superstation era, and they’re offering Last Man Standing and Blue Bloods rerun blocks in prime time, but I could easily find those shows on demand or on a local station in syndication. It’s not really developed the identity of a national cable network and established itself as a destination for appointment viewing. It feels like Nexstar has put the cart before the horse in hoping that NewsNation takes off and leads WGNA to get picked up by some of the big streaming services, but if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it... Either way, I’m interested in seeing the product. It will be streamed on their website, but I could be wrong on that front. But being less than 2 weeks from launch with just one live TV service on board has put WGNA in a tough position, and unless something changes between now and 9/1 they’ll be in big trouble right out of the gate.
  8. Wow. I enjoyed watching Christine when I lived in Charlotte as she and John Carter made a great team. Looking forward to seeing her on FOX 5!
  9. I like the graphics. Surprised some are saying that it's a downgrade from the previous look. There should be plenty of tweaks before the 2020 NFL season begins and as they make their way to other properties, I think.
  10. I'm sure there will be another variation for the other sports it carries.
  11. Today was Brigida Mack's last day at WBTV...she is leaving the station after 10 years. Her reporting work, involvment in the community, as well as launching their 4pm newscast and (now-defunct) 8pm newscast on their .2 (Bounce TV) were really some key reasons why WBTV has overtaken WSOC for No. 1 in the ratings.
  12. Meteorologist Ashley Batey has left WTSP. In the comments, she says that she will announce her next move soon.
  13. That's actually not bad. Obviously a Nexstar package, but not bad.
  14. To add to that, WDCW's 10pm newscast (produced by WTVR) is getting axed too. Always was going to be an uphill battle against FOX 5 in that slot...
  15. Interesting how ESPN's graphics were standardized across all its properties - now each one (SportsCenter, MLB, NBA, CFB, CBB, NFL) has a unique package.
  16. This seems as good a source as any.
  17. Have to think Comcast gets right of first refusal as a make-good from Disney for losing the bid, right?
  18. Likewise - kind of hate how he was blackballed for a few years after his incident. People have kept their jobs over much worse...
  19. "A personnel matter...not related to layoffs made last week by station owner Raycom Media. It also was not a retirement." You can probably read between the lines there.
  20. Saw the debut episode on the FB page and it's totally taped, just like here in ATL with the Late Feed on 11Alive. You can tell when the anchor tosses to weather at the top.
  21. This looks like a syndicated package to me. The KKTV one, though, is definitely a knockoff. The transitions are a dead giveaway.
  22. Does anyone besides WAGA in Atlanta run an hour-long 11pm (10pm CT) newscast on weekdays? It's always been interesting to me that WAGA does it, and at last check it pulls in very respectable ratings.
  23. Wow. I liked Scott, but somehow I feel his style is more suited for 60 Minutes than the CBS Evening News. As for a replacement, I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff Glor is at the top of the list. It gives them a fresh, younger look (he would be the youngest network news anchor at 41, two years younger than David Muir) and could help them gain more ground in the 25-54 demo.
