I have a compilation of news opens from the Internet Archive, with many, many more coming:

In Roanoke/Lynchburg... WSET overtakes WDBJ at 6pm to become the most-watched local news in that timeslot. "For the first time in at least two generations, WDBJ-TV (Channel 7) does not have the most-watched 6 p.m. newscast in the region." http://www.roanoke.com/news/breaking/wb/296648

My guess would be a lighter variation of the same theme. The music in the "Sharing the Vision" promo sounds kinda the same style, so it could be part of a custom package.

That one's not too bad. Weird, but not terrible. Isn't their whole news presentation since becoming "The Coastal Source" non-traditional? I noticed that since then, from their website, WJCL has introduced a new look using graphics by John Christopher Burns.

I LOVE IT and the WCSC opens are cool too

These finally got on the NMSA as the "WGGB 1993 News Theme." From what I can tell, it's exactly the same as the "WGGB 1994 News Theme" that was already on there, it's just that the opens in each entry are from different times. Not sure why there are two entries for the same theme?

That's not too bad. The B/W anchor still photos are a bit discordant. I really think the last couple opens WEWS had before adopting the new Scripps look were the worst "recent" opens.

Judging from the promos in these commercial breaks from 1996, KCRA had a fantastic promo dept. in the mid-90s. Very theatrical, not "newsy"... at 3:48 at 7:56 Note the "Where The News Comes First" motif in the music on both spots.
