  1. What, Fox doesn’t believe in Q anymore? Trust the plan…

  2. I do like the new ABC logo, but not the size of it. Rather the ABC size be same size as the 7 logo and be right beside it. Like CBS 2 for example. By 2033, we should have this logo.

  4. Why are we talking about this? The head of CBS News is stepping down, not Norah O'Donnell. There's no indication Norah is going anywhere. Is it a possibility? Sure. But it's not a guarantee. Whoever takes over the news department will certainly want to make changes, but I'm inclined to think CBS won't want to make another anchor change so soon after the last one.

Top Ten things we copied from our competitors... 10) Giant video walls 9) location, baby! 8- Giving former Co-Anchors the "Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" treatment 7) A newfound appreciation for Smooth Jazz 6) Outdated references to bits from retired CBS programs 5) That DJ we found leftover from the TRL days at Viacom 4) Paint everything orange- that got the Today Show 5 points, right? 3) Hey look! We got an couch from IKEA too! 2) Retired NFL players make great anchors! 1) Sure Willard wore a dress, but we gave Tony a fun hat! A

  6. 1) local station probably didn’t went to spend money on a custom design - nor did they have the time 2) it literally matters to absolutely no one outside of this website if a set looks similar to one in a different market

  7. As a moderator, this thread will be locked if people can't stop repeating long-winded, tired stances. That goes for individuals on both sides of the argument. Failure to abide will result in timeouts. Understood?

  8. Also …. CBS now has a Black woman, a Greek man and Black man who was a former NFL athlete all anchoring a morning show in Times Square. Sound familiar?

  9. I don’t think it’s that bad at all...I think this is another case of freaking out over nothing. It could very easily have been a retro logo, and if it were, people on here would love it.

  12. I'll summarize my thoughts from the Discord: I don't think this is an attempt at a new OTA weather channel or anything close to WeatherPlus. I think this is a vehicle to enable the hubbing of weather. The press release says "Fox Weather will feature local, regional and national updates... [Drawing] on more than 75 meteorologists across 17 stations and Fox News Channel’s news gathering teams." and makes no mention of affiliate stations. This is a project that involves only the O&O group. Rebrand all the local weather departments under the "Fox Weather" banner (Which

  13. I know people are always excited at the prospect of an affiliate getting their affiliation taken away, but this, friends, is a big ol' The NFL upset the time-honored tradition of "local time". KWQC didn't play along. NBC is not going to pull an affiliation because they were forced to schedule a football game on a Wednesday afternoon and take away income from the local stations. I'm honestly surprised more stations didn't do this.

  17. Really, does it need to be phrased so negatively here? They're in my market and they could be a lot worse, like WGCL worse or WWJ-TV non-existent, and they have management which is willing to spend. And when WTMJ is in the market continuing to drag it down, I'd rather watch a great fourth-place news operation trying hard than a third-place one we know can do 250% better (and has). They got to 25 years; there were times we were praying they got to 10 or even five, so it's a major accomplishment to me.

  21. It would be ideal if we could express our opinions without making a personal attack or judgement. I find posts from @mrschimpf to be knowledgeable and extremely sound from a business perspective. Not everyone may agree but to say someone "doesn't understand a thing" seems unnecessarily personal. For example, I don't know how one can predict that NewsNation "will never amount to anything" and I think it is overheated rhetoric to claim it is "the biggest loser in tv news history." MSNBC had a decade of failed shows before they hit their stride and the basement dweller that is the CB

  23. It's very clear to me the problem isn't Norah; it's the nature of the evening news and CBS's position in it. They're always going to be third place no matter who they put in that chair.

  28. This new look cleans up so many of the bulky elements from the 2016 version, so that makes it an automatic upgrade, for me. Better balance of the blue and white elements, while keeping the bare bones structure. And I LOVE the flashes of the peacock colors in certain animations. Not divert the conversation, but I need to take a personal victory lap, here. During the pandemic, I screwed around with some ideas for a new O&O look, and I love that the NBC designers had some similar ideas to me. I didn't share these with anyone, and I had no prior knowledge to what was going to roll

  30. Just because something shows up on someone's demo reel or portfolio does not mean they created the entire thing from scratch. If there was some "rule" that you could only include stuff you made 100%, nobody would be able to get a job.

  33. Moderators, can we separate out the J!/WOF preemption tracking? I didn’t mind it at first, but it has overtaken this thread over the past 2-3 months, and is not really syndication news, but more preemption news.

  34. Maybe someone can help me here but I fail to understand these broad doomsday statements. Saying that "NewsNation has lost a majority of its staff" is simply not true. There are about 150 people on staff at NewsNation. Have over 75 people quit? Sure they have lost a few key leaders, and I'm not downplaying that, but to say a majority of their staff is a gross exaggeration. And I still don't understand the "cut losses" concept. People on this board have been clamoring for it to be shut down since the day it launched. This product is a little over 6 months old! FOX News took 6 years

Update: My contact at CBS said there would be a statement today, but it was not termination - turns out CBS is launching another investigation and has retained counsel. An announcement went out to staff this evening. One can only wonder if this will result in action against more than just Dunn & Friend?

  43. Can y'all just stop! This happens every year when staff take vacation. They are entitled to vacation. And for many with years of experience and high compensation, they get a lot of it. When an anchor is missing they may be sick, may be on vacation or took a personal day for whatever reason. We don't need 20 posts speculating they are gone or whatever. It is too often on WABC, and as was mentioned it spilled over to WNBC as well. If someone leaves a station, you all find out anyhow. No need to speculate. Back to the topics.
