  1. I'm working on tossing old CDs and DVDs I've had laying around and I came across these work sample images taken from Giant Octopus' website in 2003. Probably the peak of their design trendyness. It's amazing how much things have changed in 20 years!

  2. It's not often that the anchor leaves for P.R., then comes back to TV news after less than a year. https://fox4kc.com/mornings/abby-eden-returns-to-fox-4/

  3. A Yakima sign-on that was not found by yours truly! KAPP signs on the air in September 1987 and there's a bunch of Saturday morning commercials that follow. THANKS to the Oddity Archive for this! Be on the lookout from the AVTB account for some rare *1981* Yakima TV clips to come. In fact, it's the earliest example I've ever found of an SLP/EP-speed tape.

  4. Branding can be whatever they want to use. The only legal requirement is the Top of Hour ID which requires just Call Sign and City of License.

  5. They did an excellent job with those news graphics packages, especially with the graphics for WBBM and WREG.

  7. I really appreciate the way CBS 2 handled a horrible situation today. They mentioned Elise briefly at the top of basically every newscast, but then got to the rest of the news, before going in depth and tossing to a longer tribute package. Cindy, in for Chris, was with Mary this morning. You can tell that Cindy and Elise were close. (Cindy is close with everyone.) John did a great job mixing in memories and positive thoughts with the weather. They played Elise's favorite songs as rejoins throughout the morning. At 5, they tossed to an updated version of the tribute. Then Tony Aiello had a nice package about Elise growing up in Mount Vernon and coming back home. That was followed by Dick (in for Maurice), Kristine and Lonnie sharing heartfelt memories and words at the desk together. At 6, Dana had her own tribute package, and then she, Dick and Lonnie reminisced about Elise again. A very emotional day but I think CBS 2 did Elise proud.

  8. Ehhh... I like that broadcast remains mostly clean. I don't think shows should have to curse or have explicit sex scenes in order to be good. A good drama can stand on its own without those elements. We've all seen how low standards can go when they're relaxed (example the VMAs).
