  1. Dude. It is owned by Saudi Arabia who's noted for their human rights abuses and corruption. It's gross.

  2. Looks like WTVQ is rolling out a newer "modified" logo and bringing back the "On Your Side" slogan. I personally would've like to seen Newschannel brought back as well.

  3. The National Press Club slams The CW/LIV deal, demands boycott of Nexstar’s stations

  4. Honestly outside the Saudi Arabia stuff, LIV is pretty much just those who would usually migrate to the Senior/Champions Tour just trying to find a new place to play for money, because they have both egos and don't want to make way for new golfers and go gently into that good night and refuse to give up their past glory. Or younger golfers who just want to participate in the big tournaments and hate that they have to play in other tourneys like the St. Jude and Memorial to earn their way, or be on the PGA money list or be eligible for the FedEx Cup. It is 100% the Sour Grapes League and they just found the worst sucker of all to finance it, and the most desperate broadcaster to show it; it says something that Scripps or Ion didn't even bother or Fox let the paper company behind MyNet do so either. I don't forsee CW stations really boycotting it outright, but if they have weekend afternoon programming that already works, they might just bump LIV to overnights if it attracts a really lousy demographic and ratings. Their weekend advertising base is already poisoned enough with Weekend Adventure's geriatric bent, and the Has-Beens and Never Weres of Golf aren't moving that age down any at all.

  5. Then tell WSYX that.... They been pretty damn successful doing that. A logo ain't going to make or break a news operation... Content however will make or break it.

  7. Launching the new 3-anchor dayparts, revamp evenings, set studio assignments, AND roll out new graphics, all around the same time, around the end of Q1.

  8. tbh, it’s a near certainty that Nexstar will kill off the app outright. It’d fit in with their “streaming bad, excessive retrans fees good” digital strategy. Ever wanted to see a cheapo small-market broadcast chain that lucked itself into getting all sorts of high-profile properties squander it all under antiquated thinking? Well now’s your chance!

  12. With all the talk about KCBS & KCAL these recent weeks, let's not forget how it started. Twenty years ago today (1/20/03), the on-air consolidation of these two stations at Columbia Square began...... Videos are from Sloan's YT Page.

  13. Gray CW affiliates could plug in whatever’s airing on Circle or go the local news route, depending on market size. Or backfill with cheapo syndication like MyTV as an interim.

  14. I’d be surprised if you don’t see Gray, Scripps, Sinclair and CBS just cut ties with the CW outright. Not because of LIV but because those groups all have their own in-house options to replace the primetime block. LIV merely greased the skids.

  15. You NEVER include a slogan in your logo. Amateur hour.

  16. The issue in the newest allegations is not a matter of age and whether someone is adult enough to consent. The issue is a sexual relationship allegedly occurring between someone in a position of power and a subordinate, and allegations that sexual encounters took place on company property inside the office of the person in power. Even if that was fully consensual and the subordinate felt no pressure to engage in the relationship, that is a relationship that must be disclosed. In the case of TJ and Amy, neither are subordinates to the other, so there is no issue there. I have been fully supportive of TJ and Amy returning to air and ABC moving on from this. If the latest allegations are true, whether in part or in whole, then ABC should terminate TJ for cause and without any buyout offer. Unless Amy knew of the prior relationship with the subordinate and failed to report it, then I don’t see how ABC has a case to terminate her for cause, but do understand having her just sign a separation agreement with a buyout. It’s really unfortunate for both of them. Surely, they were both being eyed as the future of Good Morning America.

  17. It could be U62 The CW! Everything on that channel was better than anything currently on The CW.

  18. Indeed! Unless she had some sort of mental disability, which I highly doubt, she had an idea of what she got herself into when started relations with a married man. You're old enough at 24 to make a choice, it takes two to tango. Yeah, it's not looking too good for TJ with the series of alleged relationships he had during his time at ABC. DeMarco Morgan seems to be his eventual replacement. I still do think that TJ and Amy can make waves with their own hour at CNN, they definitely have chemistry on-air that could make it an interesting and dynamic hour on television. It would definitely bring eyeballs to CNN.

  19. The time/temp bug is not as necessary at any time of day as they are during morning newscasts (as it is before traditional work and school hours), in my opinion. In this case, they probably were seeking to establish different on-air looks between both morning and afternoon/evening newscasts.

  21. Bad move by Perry there. LIV is a pariah for a reason. The man is so desperate for content, he'll do anything to get it. Sad

  23. Why is it so inconceivable that GMA and their brand of family-friendly wholesomeness (whether the show has become a joke or not as of late) would want to distance themselves from a rather un-family friendly scandal? It’s not even a debate on their morals or judgement as two consenting adults, it’s about assessing a reputational risk for the show’s brand. As a reminder, your employer likely has certain standards that you must abide by or risk discipline. Some of these may not be objectively immoral or criminal, but still pose a reputational / branding risk. Think about how many times we’ve seen people be fired for their social posts or an unflattering viral video.

  25. Happy retirement to Tony! He is a glue and one of the remaining originals from the early years of "Good Day L.A." who is still with FOX 11.

  26. I see your point, especially because Joe and Mika are doing well after their mini scandal. To be fair, 'Frozen' sing-along 'Deals and Steals' GMA is not a serious news cast. GMA3 even less serious. ABC News is fighting to protray an internalized image of Good Morning America that isn't in line with reality. Agreed. We live in a time of increased public scrutiny. These days, companies knee-jerk reaction is cave ito public pressure, forgetting that this is an era of short attention spans. A new media frenzy surfaces every week. It also seems like people who double down and stay the course, rather than retreat, are the ones who survive cancel culture. Translation, ABC should've kept them on the air and allowed this to blow over.

  27. Maybe not fired, but certainly reassigned. It's hard for them to deliver objective news of the day when they, themselves, are the topic and attention of the news.

  30. I see no harm in trying something new. I do wonder how this will effect their in-studio political panels, which have been their bread and butter for quite some time. Wouldn't be against culling the # of people offering up political analysis as there wasn't a need to have 14+ people (between anchors, correspondents, CNN political analysts and contributors) repeating the same points over and over again during the Speaker of the House coverage last week. Nor do they need multiple anchors leading coverage of events instead of dividing the work load, if you will.

  31. They're just begging the non-Nexstar stations to drop the CW so it can be brought in-house. Even if it's on a bit-starved subchannel....they'll just find a paying home on cable, right? At this rate, I wouldn't put anything past the suits at Nexstar just to tank things on purpose so they can swoop in and have everything to itself.

  32. I see Scripps and CBS diving into mostly all news-channels. CBS especially because they have the CBS News City streaming channel and KCAL News is an experiment toward this, and Scripps with Ion as a potential programming service (like MyNetworkTV) and Scripps News to cover national programming, mixed with more local news. Gray has a harder path toward cutting ties with CW. Local News Live is their latest attempt, but I'd argue that they simply just don't have the investment in national news to completely program independent (or would-be independent) stations. They are investing in production facilities which could be used for a national news product or other long-term entertainment scaling, but given the current sustainability and debt/equity ratio questions that many groups have, including Gray, I do wonder if this is the best investment for the immediate future of their business model.

  33. Their promos are certainly a lot more interesting than anything on TV today. And I'm not talking about the comedic fake shows. I'm talking about production value of that commercial and even the graphics. I don't care about any of that. There are a lot of crappy people around the world, including us. Put it on TV and if people watch it, good for them. Let the people decide what they want.

  34. Wow! First Pete Williams now Kerry Sanders, not to mention Chuck Henry at KNBC and other vets retiring from NBC. For years I knew Kerry as the Florida guy! Wishing him the best. I wonder if Andrea Mitchell will call it quits next, and many have asked about WNBC's Churck Scarborough. Hopefully they dont.

  36. This is the same network that airs the longest-running scripted medical drama where doctors bang each other all the time and the network practically placed 4 hours of their fall primetime programming to show singletons dating each other in a tropical resort in Mexico, where they have a legendary "boom boom room". For a media company that has embraced sex-positivity in its programming, it's sort of hypocritical that they would be taking the so-called moral high ground for their employees. If their investigation finds that no company policies were violated, let Amy and TJ go back to work together I say.
