  1. That view looks god-awful.

  2. seems like a waste of time and money to put a temp studio across town for just a week. this is obvious Gray trying to promote their new facility at assembly

  3. Might as well put Matt Lauer on the morning show and Charlie Rose a talk show as well. NN doesn't feel like the centrist outlet it launched as.

  4. This is why Hearst is my favorite owner of all the TV News Companies. I'm also glad to have a local Hearst station in my area as well (WTAE).

  5. Been a fan of Wayne Brady ever since his Whose Line Days on ABC and enjoyed his energy on his self-titled prime time and daytime shows. For some reason, I can never really get into "Let's Make a Deal" which always feels stale and repetitive, I wonder if it's just the style of the set that reeks fluorescence lighting from the 1980s, the cheesy music that lacks texture, or the contestants trying too hard to make an impression.. just never my cup of tea, and I usually enjoy The Price is Right and the other primetime game show revivals. But as a treat, this is the website of the first iteration of Wayne Brady Show when it was on ABC primetime: https://web.archive.org/web/20010801144214/http://abc.go.com/primetime/waynebrady/wayne_home.html

  7. Hearst is almost debt free for not going on a huge M&A frenzy as the rest of the groups. This means free cash flow. While other groups are in debt in the BILLIONS, Hearst sits back with only MILLIONS in debt and are able to do so much more being a private company.

  8. I hope they open it up again—go back to open newsroom.

  9. Alright here are a few pictures of the set up at "Assembly". Like I said before, I'm pretty sure that's the old weather desk their using, with a non working screen ofcourse. Sorry but a construction site is is not the most desired backdrop for a newscast though. It seems like a very much cluttered space but ofcourse smile and wave for the boss! Also I seen the last image during the LNL feed, and saw that interesting graphic with one of the Gray bottom graphics with the WGCL logo, don't know how to feel about that

  10. Here's an update on WATN's studio renovation https://twitter.com/weathertrevor/status/1555969798466686976?s=20&t=Gt_u0CCwXXCZViUYHQ2jsA https://twitter.com/weathertrevor/status/1555968884439748609?s=20&t=Gt_u0CCwXXCZViUYHQ2jsA

  11. I don't really see the point other than to advertise the new upcoming space for Gray. You've got a nice temporary set, why not just use that until October? I wouldn't be surprised if we got ANOTHER temporary set after this week knowing WGCL. This seems rather pointless. And yes I would be complaining to if ai had to take down that complete hodgepodge excuse of a set

  12. I'll give NBCND about... 13 weeks. Because I don't see it happening.

  13. The Revolution was a 'fad show' and done from its first week; a very blatant and nasty attempt to try a reality show during the day. Unlike Starting Over though, it outright insulted its target audience and was completely focused around weight loss and fad diets and saying 'you're never good enough, take our advice!'. The Chew likely would've stayed on until at least March 2020 had Mario Batali not ruined everything though. I think CBS has finally found a Talk cast that isn't confrontational, and LMAD has found a perfect format and niche, so that's worked out for them. I do see NBCND lasting; if anything it'll only help NBC affiliates finally stop slacking on their local noon newscasts as the place where corporate must-runs and cheaper advertorials go to die, along with B-team anchors before their retirements.

  15. Hmm 360° track like BBC isn't really something that's ever been done before in the US, is it? On the surface it would be very unique (especially if it was used for local news - hypothetically). I still miss that Rock Center studio.

  17. I would love to see something like that. Even better: A local version of Nightline. Not the crappy Nightline we have now. The OG Nightline: Ted Koppel Nightline. With the amount of hours Fox and independent stations with their own in-house news department are adding, this would give people something different from another late night talk show with the same five jokes every night. How many times have we all seen the local news only spend two minutes talk about the upcoming city budget, but never really talk about what is really in it? Also, I would like to hear what the mayor or other local leaders have to say after the State of The Union address. National issues do become local ones.
