  1. They said the quiet part out loud. Surprised this didn't get posted, but Deb McDermott sent a letter to all of Tegna saying no jobs would be cut. In the article they went on to say Like, that's fine and all and I'm glad to see it, but how does that really benefit Jane and John Doe living in Nowhereville, USA? Great! This mega-media company is ran by minorities and women. How does that help them when it comes to local news?

  2. The fact that Graham Media has filled a petition to deny this merger says a lot about where this merger could be heading towards. I've never seen Graham this much outspoken for or against a merger of a competitor, ever.

  3. Graham Media has filed a petition to deny, based on the Jacksonville situation and that Apollo would be financing 4 stations there. (An easy way out would be to mandate divestiture of one of the two duopolies there, as well as other conflicting market stations. Since I believe WJXT is #1 in the market, the duopoly with the #5 station would be the one to go, since that would be able to go to a single owner outright.)

  5. WDAF really can't decide what to do with Jeopardy!, can they? That's its second time slot change in less than a year, and the first time it won't be aired in a double run. At least it still has the privilege of rarely being pre-empted by FOX sporting events, unlike its sister show. Even with TNF leaving FOX, there is still the World Series whose pregame show will pre-empt Wheel on all game days (and the game will push back its late night time slot further since FOX still thinks postseason MLB can be done within three hours), and it's also possible WDAF may bid for local broadcast rights to Chiefs TNF games (I don't believe they have ever aired MNF games; those typically air on KMBC).

  6. Huh, it's like the FCC has some questions relevant to the plot...

  7. It's a unique case but an extremely valid one. If they are attributed all to one owner, you'd have such a case in a top-50 market with all networks in one hand. That would be unprecedented and should never happen except in the smallest markets. I can't see how they can legitimately respond to such an argument.

  9. This was sent to me, but FOX8 in Greensboro, NC is replacing "The Real" with self-syndicated "The Lee and Hayley Show" (originates from WTVQ in Lexington) on July 5th. The timeslot currently was being filled with a second helping of "Judge Judy". As much as I like Judge Judy, two hours is overkill. Good on FOX8 to pick them up. Would love to see more stations pick up Lee and Hayley with all of the other talk shows being canceled or realigned this season (I would suggest KCWX in San Antonio pick them up but they don't exactly make it easy for viewers to get in touch with them). Anyone who knows me knows I am a major fan of this show and it doesn't get enough love because this show is just amazing.

  11. I don't understand this so I must be missing something. Could you show me how COX been running the Telemundo brand into the ground? I can only speak to WSOC who has been putting resources towards their Telemundo affiliate, like an evening newscast and producing Charlotte FC games with Telemundo specific announcers in their secondary studio. Not bad considering they could have just taken the national feed and slapped it on a subchannel.

  12. I know here in LA, Sky 2 and Sky Fox recently got a new helicopter (2 months ago) - one side has the Sky 2 name and the other has Sky Fox. Would love to see if WCBS/WNYW did the same.

  13. Hey guys, I need a huge favor. If, for any reason, anybody has any stuff from NMC, PLEASE go to this site: https://www.newsmusic.com/collectors And request a personal use license for the packages you acquire. It's literally just $25, and the music is yours to keep for your collection legally. Seeing as we're the only news music company that offers this feature, I'm asking that everybody please respect that, and follow the rules when it comes to NMC packages. So if you have any in your collection, please do this. Thank you!

  14. Here's a behind the scenes photo they showed today, in tribute to the director who is leaving. Really sad what the quality of this show has become.

  15. I process the cable bills for work, and Comcast charges $18.95 per month as a “broadcast TV Fee” - this is on top of the package to get cable channels. It’s ludicrous! At home, I have an antenna in the attic and get both DC and Baltimore locals - more than I’d get with cable… Jim
