  1. At last, some cuts of this package have been found. Unfortunately, I think most of them are lost or damaged. Loonis McGlohon (who collaborated with Al Ham) donated his archives to East Carolina University as part of his estate, which had two of the three reels for On Top of It All. Reel 1 wasn't included. Reel 2 had "Sticky Tape Syndrome" which likely renders that unplayable and Reel 3 is mostly intact, save for a few tracks. What's left of Reel 3 is mostly promo themes, but does include a portion of the news theme in the clear. https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/63046 - On Top of It All Reel 3 The university also digitized a promotional reel for Part of Your Life, which is better quality than the cues on TVPMM. McGlohon and Ham created the theme for WBTV in 1974. https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/62790

  2. Since when does CBS daytime have anything to do with “Nexstar buying The CW”? Seems like that discussion should take place anywhere else. As for rebranding, if they decide to change their target audience to “middle America,” as some articles speculate, then I could see a name change. But then again, name recognition is one of the hardest things to earn. Maybe they would consider “WGN America.” It has some recognition and the name was recently vacated by their new corporate owners… /s

  3. I think the new WTRF7 is a flashback or homage to their 1956-1962 logo… Just my opinion

  4. I see they’ve taken inspiration from WSPA. And by “taken inspiration” I mean “ripped them right off.” That said, the set looks good for the market the station is in, even if it is just a standard-issue Nexstar set.

  5. ImagiComm obviously sees value in programming to geriatrics or else they wouldn’t have positioned INSP the way they have. I don’t think this is purely a spectrum play nor do I think they’re going to wipe out stations they just purchased just to put INSP on the primary sub channel.

  6. Apollo was never going to be a long-term owner. This is a breakup that will take 1–2 years to complete as Apollo cashes out. Make no mistake, INSP bought these licenses solely for the 3.0 spectrum. The station operations and news departments are all either going to be shut down or sold to existing groups. If I’m at ABC, I’m fucking terrified. Disney’s long-standing “we won’t buy our affiliates” strategy is going to bite them in the butt when WSOC, WSB, WFTV and WFAA are offloaded to a spectrum hog and/or a Godcaster because no other buyers exist beyond the networks.
