No way. It's barely a network and they own the programming. They can do with it whatever they want. That said, Antenna TV is still on Sinclair here and the guy that owns Circle City used to work for Nexstar didn't he?2 points

Replying with my best news anchor impression: Speaking in participles, right or wrong, the broadcast news equivalent of verbal shorthand. Televised news programs, competing with other news sources—social media, on-demand, news sites, etc.—for viewers eyes and time. Every second matters, needing to be efficient when telling stories, packing in as much useful and relevant information as possible.2 points

they most likely are but, behind the scenes, they have the option to wear a mask or the the station has reinstated indoor masking following the city and state health departments both recommending indoor masking again.2 points

If Nexstar does prevail in getting the CW, it's almost like they could be trying to turn the CW into what Tribune tried to do with WGN America, import some cheaper programming. How long are the CBS O&O's (and stations like WCIU) tied into CW? And what would CBS do with their O&Os should they lose the CW? It may be a nice place to put their CBSN local streams OTA for at least part of the day, since many markets are duopolies to begin with.1 point

Agreed. As well as interactions outside the studios, including their families and who they interact with. Unless there is a known infection cluster inside their building, it may be an overreaction. Interestingly, WNBC is not doing what CBS, ABC and PIX are doing. The reality with these new more contagious variants, is they will result in sporadic infections. It does not mean everyone at their facility gets it.1 point

Again, I wonder if on air social distancing makes sense because staff may be interacting in close quarters behind the scenes.1 point

This day was coming, had a feeling she was headed for retirement soon. Sad to see Judy go. At least she'll still be around for select projects.1 point

If Bennett is tapped as her (co-)successor, that would be a pretty quick promotion for him, considering he just became anchor of the recently renamed PBS News Weekend when WETA took over responsibility for producing the Saturday and Sunday editions (from WNET) in early April. Nawaz, OTOH, has been acting as backup weeknight anchor for several years (at least since Gwen Ifill’s passing).1 point

I’m not sure they’re that intentional with some of this logo creation, however it is very similar. IMO, it’s just so generic that the similarities are a coincidence. That “WV/OH/PA” logo would have been a great legacy logo to revive.1 point

I'm going to try and ignore the fact that you linked the video, then still posted MORE THAN 60 SCREENSHOTS UP TO 3 TIMES EACH. Never do that again. It's terribly redundant, and a nightmare for users on a mobile device. Carry on.1 point

For WTRF, it's an improvement. Not much of one given the station and market, but nevertheless.... Given the station's freefall ever since they swapped affiliations with WSTV/WTOV, even ending up as a WVMH station qualifies. With their dual-affiliation status, I figued that the KOIN package would end up here, since all of the others (sans ABC & FOX) are in use by the former West Virginia Media stations.1 point

I see they’ve taken inspiration from WSPA. And by “taken inspiration” I mean “ripped them right off.” That said, the set looks good for the market the station is in, even if it is just a standard-issue Nexstar set.1 point

I saw a video on YouTube from JCD Creative showing a vastly improved and well produced graphics package. I don’t know if or when it’ll be implemented, but I really hope they do so soon.1 point

Is Twitter so indispensable that businesses won't just go elsewhere? You'd think Elon would have learned from the boom-and-bust cycles of dot-com businesses...1 point

It's part of WOIO still doing some of the Action News without going full-on Action (circa 2002-12 before Romona Robinson joined the station). They sort of went back-to-basics after the Cleveland 19 News debacle.1 point

WOIO's weather is nauseating. Power planner, First Alert and all the other BS. They yell the forecast at you. It's a tune out factor big time. Tanchek is the worst, as soon as I hear his voice, it's goodbye. They are trying to reinvent the wheel. People in Cleveland have lived here since the 1950's without that kind of treatment from broadcasters. WOIO yells the weather world is coming to an end next Tuesday. The other stations treat the viewers properly. No disrespect but Gray Television can take their way of doing things back to the small markets. It won't work here.1 point

Note this is the cable provider Cox Communications, not Cox Media Group (which Cox Enterprises has only a 29% interest in compared to Apollo's 71%), so you won't see scripted court shows on a subchannel eating up WSB, WFXT or KIRO bandwidth anytime soon.1 point

ShopLC has also been dropped from WYFF 4.3, after one year. Apparently the contract ran out and Hearst did not renew. However Story remains on 4.4, but 4.3 has disappeared.1 point

Running all stations like they're in Scranton and investing in them that way because you are ignorant to market size and diversity.1 point

Per Variety and Deadline, Judy Woodruff has announced to staffers that she will depart the anchor desk of the PBS NewsHour at the end of this year (she will anchor coverage of the midterm elections) and transition to special projects and long-form reporting for WETA. Her successors are (confirmed by two internal sources) expected to be correspondents and fill-in anchors Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett; official word might come this fall.0 points

ABC has been reading the news in the present tense for a while, although that really accelerated after David Muir took over WNT. I guess that style of delivery is supposed to make the news sound like it’s happening in real time, but it’s devolved into being unintentionally hilarious, given that they aren’t even speaking in complete sentences anymore. It’s certainly a departure from Peter Jennings’ style of delivery.0 points
