  1. Probably not, IIRC Judy and CBS didn't part on good terms. That's why CBS decided to "screw it" and just cash in on decades of reruns, figuring the casual viewer wouldn't notice anyway.

  2. Tony will not bring the newscast to #1, but I'm sure the thought is that he'd cost less to be #3. CBS is in a no-win situation. Norah isn't connecting with viewers but changing anchors every few years isn't going to win anyone over either. I think the first mistake was letting Scott Pelley out of the chair. Edit: OK, that's far from the network's first mistake, but I do think it was a mistake

  3. We had Judge Steve Harvey, what next? I mean, the networks are running OUT of ideas. A comedian as a TV judge. Seriously. Judge Wapner spins in his grave. And I like Steve Harvey's humor.

  4. I know it won't happen, but CBS execs needs to try talking to BW again. No matter how much money they're throwing at him, bring Brian Williams to The CBS Evening News.

  5. Questions: Despite being in 3rd place, is 5 Mil viewers a night that horrendous? I doubt Tony D taking over (as rumored by the NY Post will solve anything). Nora did give off an intense vibe ocassionaly during her time on CTM.

  6. Also, The Doctors, just to keep Dr. Phil and his son happy. A Fallout situation could occur, and there's Dr. Ordon, still hosting it in the void of the metaverse about how to increase your brainpower with green smoothies so you repel the zombies from eating you.

  7. Look up the Mets broadcast schedule. That should be clear.

  8. I could get on the Ann Curry train... She fits the CBS "straight news" mantra, and I was hoping she would have replaced Norah on the Gayle King Show. No chance she would likely overtake Lester Holt for the #2 spot, but nevertheless it would be a good chance to redeem herself for getting screwed over by Lauer on "Today". Even if she was the stop gap while a long-term host was groomed, it would transition nicely into a role at 60 Minutes.

  9. Tony is a short term solution to a long term problem. Getting rid of Scott was a huge mistake, having him lead the network through the events that unfolded in the first couple years following would've been helpful. Norah having these behind the scenes "meltdowns" and all the drama is a serious problem for the network and will eventually be a PR issue, we've watched her get angry while she's live on the air, imagine how she acts when the camera is off. Brian Williams would be great but I'm not gonna hold my breath. My suggestion, Ann Curry, she has the experience, look, presentation and leadership. Best of all she's no drama and very straight forward, she would bring in good interviews and stick around long enough for CBS to groom a long term replacement, just 5 years would be long enough for them. She's also been out of news long enough to be viewed as an outsider who isn't caught up in politics and she's no longer immediately associated with NBC & Today, not to mention all the people who would be rooting for her comeback. I use to watch Scott every night, the transition to Jeff was weird and people got too comfortable with Anthony Mason. I haven't consistently watched Norah at all and never will. Bringing Scott or Jeff back would be better than what they have now.

  10. Speaking of changing anchors every few years, another problem with moving Tony to Evening News is yet another casting change to the Gayle King Show... What are the chances they give a former anchor another shot? Pelley? Glor?

  12. His wife, Michelle Beisner (also an ESPN employee), confirmed it on Instagram. There's never been an NFL TV hot stove like this, I agree.

  13. According to both the New York Post and FTVLive, Norah O'Donnell's Evening News tenure may end soon. FTVLive, reporting on March 10 and citing an internal source that CBS may "downplay" her role at the network https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2022/3/10/norah-is-nowhere-to-be-seen-in-ukraine And now on the 11th, the NY Post reports that her alleged attitude may not be helping the situation https://nypost.com/2022/03/11/norah-odonnells-attitude-under-fire-at-cbs-evening-news/

  14. I was going to write something out defending the concept of TV graphic artists copying each other, but it's really not just a problem there. The whole industry copies each other's work. Look at how many stations just blatantly copied WSVN's format in the 90's and early 2000's. The whole industry functions by taking what works in one market and either improving on it or just straight up copying it.

  15. With MLB and the Players Association agreeing to a new deal and the lockout ending, this is the place to discuss all the broadcast-related aspects of the season. • Apple is getting an exclusive Friday Night Baseball doubleheader package. • Peacock will take over the Monday and Wednesday night packages from ESPN. • With the new 12-team playoff format, ESPN will have the new Wild Card Series.

  19. Sounds pretty beneficial for ESPN. I'm guessing they wanted to get rid of the Monday/Wednesday games because those were always shared with the RSNs and were non-exclusive. Getting the new Wild Card series as a trade-off ought to bring in a lot more eyeballs for those games. Might actually give them a reason to hype up MLB during a time of year that they're normally only talking about football and basketball.

  20. I hope so. Judge Judy feels like appointment viewing moreso than something I'd actually go on a streaming platform other than youtube to watch.

  21. I know Judge Judy is in reruns but do you think the networks (especially CBS) would ask IDMBtv to air Judy Justice on their stations. Judge Judy is still pulling in great ratings in many cities even though the show has ended.

  22. That link doesn't work. But yes the Paperwork is now up. Here's the comprehensive exhibit & merger agreement. In regards to the Dallas situation, if you remember when Tegna bought KMPX from Estrella back in the fall of 2020, there was an option agreement in which Estrella can acquire WFAA (but only the VHF equipment (antenna, transmitter, etc.) and not the studio or programming) within five years after the original deal was completed. I don't expect post-transaction Tegna would keep the other Dallas station long term. But should the option be exercised, expect the callsign & virtual channels to be swapped, but viewers won't notice the difference once they rescan their TVs. Well, other than having WFAA on a stronger UHF signal.

  24. I don't think WCMH (which used a variation of the WFLA graphics) stood up to WBNS very well. Morris copied WCMH to complete their $50 look.

  27. I wonder since Daphne Oz was part of the Good Dish, if it left a bad taste in some of the programmer's mouths, particularly in Pennsylvania where her father's running for Congress,, and thought that wouldn't be enough regarding the "equal time rule". Judge Jerry might live on in reruns on Nosey, where all the other shows similar to it are on. I think Nick Cannon premiered rather too late in syndication in many markets. WUPW didn't premiere it until after Wendy was sidelined and wouldn't be back. The Real seemed like it was going to end eventually someday, probably due to its ratings, being average and not totally improving over time.
