  1. Talk about going Retro! Looks like WAVE will be getting a new logo this year to commemorate their 75th Anniversary. From what I've been told, it'll debut on air early this year.

  2. No one should be really surprised. For the last several years it seems that the network's goal is for the affiliate to air their daytime show on its recommended timeslot. Look at all of those stations that use to carry Y&R at 4pm prior to a few years ago (i.e. KMOV, WAFB).

  3. A possibility is launching HD affiliates of Circle, since that's an area it would do very well in; no current affiliate of the network is on the three major stations there. Could see that and since they lost NBCSN, they might ramp up PowerNation as a subchannel network so they don't have to keep playing musical chairs as cable networks wind down.

  4. I wish you would persuade them to remain FOX46. Most folks seem to have a negative reaction to Queen City News and think it is a bad idea. And they haven't changed their FOX8 in Greensboro or their FOX56 in Lexington, Ky. This just seems juvenile and stupid.

  5. It's a fantastic reboot of their old-time logo. I think it's going to be the next design trend as stations resurrect and re-boot their heritage branding because of how homogeneous and "networked" broadcast affiliates have become. WKBN doing what they did a decade ago was another great example of using their heritage "WKBN" sign as part of their logo.

  6. WAVE has already debuted a spot with the logo on their building, station gear, and mic flags. The logo treatment at the end of the spot is great. https://vimeo.com/662689785

  7. That is sliiiiiiiiick... It's also a new design riffing off the 1960s version (with the sine wave in the A).

  8. Finally! This is what I’ve been hoping for all these years. Modernity has been something WAVE pushed really hard as of late. So a “fresh” logo design was in order.

  10. Yikes. One more reason to recommend that station broadcasting on Channel 17, WNCN's namesake. You know the callsign.

  11. Nexstar couldn't be that shortsighted Yes they can be that shortsighted. If they were going to do this, with Ellen leaving next year anyway they should’ve just moved her to 9 for the rest of the season and moved Y&R to 3 to keep it as a lead-in. Maybe it was a CBS mandate to air Y&R in pattern as David Salter on Discord suggested. But I doubt it.

  12. That is why in the MG era, WNCN's newscasts were 6:00, 7:00 (instead of 5:00) and 11, and with neither WRAL or WTVD doing a 7 at that time, it gave them a way to catch viewers who otherwise watch one of WRAL or WTVD.

  13. Why keep the Fox 46 branding? With everything that Fox did there, maybe the community soured on the name.

  14. I’m really hoping this works out well enough to keep it viable. It’s a joke for CBS to have no real news presence in a market as large as Detroit.

  15. That will look amazing on some big tacky 3D poorly textured random shapes with some lens flares.

  17. It’s just going to be Queen City News (Fox Charlotte outside of news) and it begins next Monday. I like the Fox 46 Charlotte Queen City News. Good Day Charlotte is going to become Queen City News Now.
