  1. It would be ideal if we could express our opinions without making a personal attack or judgement. I find posts from @mrschimpf to be knowledgeable and extremely sound from a business perspective. Not everyone may agree but to say someone "doesn't understand a thing" seems unnecessarily personal. For example, I don't know how one can predict that NewsNation "will never amount to anything" and I think it is overheated rhetoric to claim it is "the biggest loser in tv news history." MSNBC had a decade of failed shows before they hit their stride and the basement dweller that is the CBS News morning show certainly has to be in contention...both are still in business by the way. Lastly, I can't believe that one single show, Live PD, is the ONLY show that could deliver exposure. That seems extremely limiting. It is a wide world, there must be other ideas out there. My point is while I do not agree with your point of view, I do respect you as a person and your right to feel differently than me. For the record, I don't know mrschimpf. Just didn't like what I perceived as an attack. They might not even have noticed or cared.

  2. This will be around for 5 minutes. Gray prefers stations transition to their own look (even if they own the other package outright or it's strangely in the budget). It's not required, but they have a clear preference.

  3. Jen Maxfield was in for Darlene. It has been a long time they used a sub co-anchor.

  4. This just all seems like a worse idea than AFL was. Agreed. The XFL was starting to find its legs... games were actually reasonably entertaining to watch (if not quite at an NFL level), and teams were managing to build an actual fan base. COVID screwed them bigtime. I can't see anyone caring about a made-for-and-by-TV league with all games played in Birmingham.

  5. I can't wait for this thread to go years and years like the ABC O&O speculation.

  7. It's clear that Gray wants a fresh start there. Basically taking the same approach they did with WOIO, realizing they may have an opening given that Apollo is doing a number to WSB and that one of their other competitors (WXIA) is in serious flux as well.

  8. Should the show keep going, I wonder if Gray has any priority of securing a larger deal. Once the companies separate, the show is probably good as gone, especially if Meredith had trouble securing clearance outside of its own group. The brand equity was one of the few bright spots of Meredith, but now Dotdash will have it and could keep it to itself or charge accordingly to someone else who wants to use it.

  10. I'm a bit surprised she didn't end up at WCHS. But it's a clear sign Nexstar isn't likely to impose a vaccination mandate either.

  11. I wish I knew more about them. There doesn't seem to be much of a trace online left about them. I wasn't really paying attention to any of this with that level of detail back then. The KCBS and KCNC 2003 looks were some of my favorites, and in my opinion, probably the best of the 2003 CBS O&O rebrands.

  12. The XFL 2.0, considering how successful the broadcasts were last season (personally, I found them fun and exciting), deserves a revival. This... doesn't. I give it a year. Maybe two if the viewers are generous the first time.
