  1. The local news did indeed start 12/12.

  2. I saw the new opening. Their News logo is not "News 4" logo anymore. That logo says "4 NBC News" like WNBC's confusing News 4 New York logo basically. I see why they delayed the new graphics so long.

  3. I guess ABC's Good Morning America also moved to WFTS on 9/12/94. I could be wrong on that.

  4. I remember when WTSP showed the MDA Labor Day telethon that year they were advertising CBS This Morning and The Price Is Right moving on September 12th. Only the network morning shows and morning daytime shows which was only TPIR and ABC’s Mike and Maty at that time switched channels prior to December 12th.

  8. KREM broadcast some certain images they shouldn't have on the Sunday 6 p.m. newscast through a weather center monitor, and of course, it involves police and corporate investigation, and no doubt, the FCC will be there soon. Speculation is suggesting a WDBJ-level fine, but even worse since it involved the type of nudity that's more than Cinemax-level. And she does happen to mention a 'non-disclosure payment', which I had a feeling the Gray folks who separated but don't go to the media are happy enough about to accept. So she agreed to full masking and testing...but not being a part of meetings except on Zoom? I'd be bouncing if I could just watch news meetings in another room and stay there.

  9. Off the satellite feed, I see. As WABC was into live coverage, I doubt this got aired on any of their affiliate stations that day. Amazing to see this.

  10. I want to preface this by saying I don't mean this in a particularly inflammatory way, and I do not intend to delve into my personal views on policing in New York, I just want to neutrally note recent changes to WABC's editorial output. I have noticed that there have been a lot of NYPD public relations stories fairly high up in the running order of WABC's newscasts, sometimes multiple times a day. Things like NYPD funding basketball courts, hosting a dance party (seemingly attended by 5 people), NYPD-sponsored haunted houses (https://abc7ny.com/nypd-haunted-house-willets-point-fort-totten/11103618/) etc. Other stations (WNBC, WCBS) do not seem to be including this volume of reporting on this subject matter. While individually I don't think it's problematic to include community interest pieces like this (these are events happening in the viewing area after all), the disproportionate volume and prominence of such pieces are difficult to view as anything other than propagandistic in intent. Again, I do not mean this to be inflammatory but rather observational - peer stations in the market have been making other editorial choices so I thought this was worth noting here.

  11. According to this article, WJBK anchor Huel Perkins is planning to retire next year, and Monica Gayle may retire with him. https://deadlinedetroit.com/articles/28964/detroit_fox_2_anchor_huel_perkins_plans_to_retire_next_year_--_monica_gayle_may_follow

  12. I freaking knew it. The way that the network discontinued weeknight weather segments and dumped him off to the weekends was surely NOT what Albert signed up for a year ago. The minute they gave the weekday morning position to Gerard and not Albert, I figured Albert would not be long for NewsNation. The only thing that surprised me was that it came so soon, after only working one weekend (this past weekend). Hopefully this means he was able to secure another job somewhere. Best of luck to him, and hopefully the next place that hires him actually lets him stay in the position for which he was hired for more than one year.

  13. Which GM/ND/CSD looks at the honeycomb package and says, “That’s the package I want for us!” ??? It immediately looks so dated. Straight from the 1970s or 1980s.
