  1. Beware of that Steven Walsh guy. He just reposts other people's videos. He has taken IDs from videos posted by The ID Junkie/Junkie's Tape Bin, Ntropolis, Rochester TV Archive, Channel 37, and others hours after those channels have uploaded their own videos. He gives no credit or does not ask prior to reposting other people's captures. I recommend not supporting users like him.

  2. David is heir apparent. He’s 14 years younger than Bill. He will get his day in the sun before anyone else does. Mike has a long time before he even gets off weekends.

  3. I’m uploading as much as I can in my spare time. So far I have 90 newscasts uploaded, mostly 88-92 timeframe and am now working on the 93-95 window. My goal is to have 200 uploaded by Labor Day. I just missed posting a couple of “30 Years Ago Today” newscasts on the actual day (Doh!). After about 95, I’ll have to start digitizing from tape until about 1999, where I have quite a few digitized already…

  4. WCIU has a good relationship with the other stations in town. Still, a little odd for such a mention, but remember that ABC 7 aired news on The U for 4.5, and the elimination of it was mutually beneficial. There are no hard feelings there.

  5. This topic reminds me of a great book I found in my office when I took over as Art Director at a station on the West Coast -- it was from the Broadcast Design Association, dated June 1980. It listed photos and construction information on some local news sets built around that time. I've been meaning to scan this book in to share it with you guys, I know you'd find it interesting. A lot of sets back then were actually designed and fabricated in-house. Forgive the quality of these photos I snapped with my phone from the book - need to go scrounge up a scanner: Here's a list of all the sets included in the book:

  6. Every station has to tease NN in their early evening news now-- in news time, with an anchor intro-- not in the break.
