  1. The pandemic hurt the budget, yes, but it hurt the format more. The lack of audience and regular studio panelists threw off the balance. The 10th anniversary throwbacks just made the decline more obvious. At this point, I like the idea of the show better than the execution. Cutting the show from 5 hours a week to 30 minutes isn't entirely a bad thing. The host chat segment has been extended from the first 20 minutes to nearly a whole half hour. That's an easy 2.5 hours to lob off. Hopefully they'll also dump the most irrelevant sponsored segments, and they should be left with the b

  2. 1,000 people are watching it. I think Perry is in denial. The digital team at NN kills it. They have a a lot of app downloads and a ton of traffic on their website. They believe it was from the cable channel touting these tools because they are so focused in on “tv”. In reality they just got lucky in the SEO world and no one is giving the digital team credit. When you go to the App Store and type in News … well, NN pops up because their name is… News. The Sr Management just think the ratings is incorrect because how could their digital being doing so well but tv not doing so well… welcom

  3. To be fair. NBC News posted an article well before you posted this. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.today.com/today/amp/tdna226149

  7. Shirleen Allicott posted earlier today that she decided to finally get vaccinated. She had to be extremely careful because she's due to give birth any day now, but got the OK from her doctor to do so. We are far from out of the woods. COVID is still a real thing and I'm glad WABC is continuing to take precautions to remain safe. In no way am I knocking any other station, but I hope nobody was premature in easing social distancing and precautions

  8. Yes. Because that's exactly what people want. A minimart version of CNN Cablenews is in the gutter for a reason so I have low expectations for CNN+. What am I going to get for a fee that I'm not gonna get for free (ie. Newsy, BBC, Sky, France24, etc)

  12. Jeopardy! Was moved to 4:30pm then Brenda Wood at the time would do a run down of the stories that was coming up at 6pm- then they would go into Dr. Phil at 5pm. But the 7pm news did return this time on WATL. Columbus, OH has (2) 7pm news on NBC & ABC going up against WoF & Jeopardy! Cleveland, OH also has (2) 7pm news on NBC & FOX up the game show on now CBS. Cincinnati, OH 7pm news on ABC and FOX has the two game shows. Even some FOX affiliates are cashing in big with the two popular game shows. WBFF & WXIX seem to have snagged a big p

  13. Indeed-- I think WJZ in Baltimore (CBS O&O in Charm City) made a bad mistake when they became just WJZ News (dropping the Eyewitness part).

  14. Speaking of branding, I fear WPTV might be doing away with the "News Channel 5" branding, and renaming themselves as WPTV News. This Friday, the 23rd, they're debuting a new 7pm newscast called "WPTV News at 7pm". Not liking these generic names.

  16. Why are we talking about this? The head of CBS News is stepping down, not Norah O'Donnell. There's no indication Norah is going anywhere. Is it a possibility? Sure. But it's not a guarantee. Whoever takes over the news department will certainly want to make changes, but I'm inclined to think CBS won't want to make another anchor change so soon after the last one.
