  1. The new logo is not an upgrade, its just oversized and flat. The current logo is the best ABC ever had.

  2. It's a black circle with three letters in it. It isn't really that special of a logo, but I guess of course they're going to try and sell the change as new! fresh! and innovative!. There, I said it. Get back to me when NBC or CBS tries to change up the peacock or eye.

  3. Yes, but with far more radical changes than what ABC is trying to pass this off as.

  4. In 1986, the peacock logo went from eleven feathers to the current six.

  5. And to think some marketing firm made millions of dollars off of this.

  6. The last bullet in this slide is the biggest BS.... This change is not going increase the legibility at smaller scales; it will most likely make it worse. That smaller gap in the letter c will be an issue.

  7. Tom Koch singed off today from the show he’s anchored for nearly 40 years (minus the 2 years when he was replaced) and the show has been #1 for virtually the entire time (minus the 2 years where he was replaced). The mayor officially declared today as “Tom Koch Day.” Heartfelt send off for one of Houston’s finest!

  8. From a group of commercials I got in a trade that came from a September 11, 1987 airing of Jeopardy, this has WJLA anchor Renee Poussaint promoting the D.C. ABC affiliate broadcasting their late newscasts with closed-captioning.

  10. Which is the way we've known NBC for 3.5 decades (anniversary this year)!

  11. I just saw a preview of the WPIX mayor candidate forum. Was this shot in an old 70's porn set? This is the #1 Market type production? Hey Nexstar throw a couple of bucks for an alternate set - even a pair of drapes will do.

  12. Both the peacock and eye had slight changes done in the past.

  13. WVEC 11pm news open ca. 1985 or 1986. Likely one of the earliest opens with Turn To because Len Randolph is featured.

  14. I do like the new ABC logo, but not the size of it. Rather the ABC size be same size as the 7 logo and be right beside it. Like CBS 2 for example. By 2033, we should have this logo.

  15. The proportions are all wrong. Demanding the “dot” is 75% of the circle 7 basically has the two elements fighting for dominance. Maybe I’ll get used to it...but it’s awkward.

  16. That erection has lasted much, much, much longer than 36 hours. Someone may seriously need to consult their medical professional posthaste, because something may be very wrong.

  17. I had no idea that WBNX had a different owner when it was launched. I thought Winston Broadcasting owned it from day one. I do remember reading an old article that WBNX was going to face some "must-carry" difficulty like what WOIO faced when it was launched more than six months before the double nickel went on-the-air. Speaking of WOIO, a lot of people think that station and WBNX were what helped WCLQ ceased being an independent station (with four indies in Akron, three of those Cleveland-based, it was too much to support all of them in the market in 1985-86) and flipped to the Home Shopping Club/Network.

  18. New York is too different from region to region for one statewide newscast to find traction. Upstate people hate downstate people; the (NYC) northern suburbs don’t care about anything or anyone other than Metro North; Long Islanders are too busy being stuck in traffic; and everyone hates Staten Island. I think the solution for WPIX is to move out of Midtown East, and move to Queens. Then, build a newscast and image that is New York City, other than Manhattan. Forget Manhattan news. Concentrate on the other four boroughs and their 7,000,000 residents. It’s harder to do, and requires some real outside the box work. But it would give New York something it doesn’t have: a newscast that resembles and reflects New York.
