Small, but important point of clarification: she has not been diagnosed with cancer. Her surgery was to remove 2 tumors. They have not determined if it's cancer.

This was posted here many years ago, but since we're on the subject of Ron Magers' early Chicago career, it's perhaps worth revisiting... KTCA, the PBS station in the Twin Cities, aired a long, thoughtful report about Magers several months after he had moved from KSTP to WMAQ:

Starting in like 1983, PAUL Magers picked up where his brother Ron left off in the Twin Cities. Meaning that, after Ron left KSTP for Chicago in 1981, his brother Paul came to Minneapolis/St. Paul in 1983 to anchor at rival KARE 11 (WTCN at the time). When it came to giving the Twin Cities the news every night, Paul filled the void that Ron left. Tom Rhyther (sports) and Barry Zevan (weather) couldn't get enough of the Magers brothers in the Twin Cities. After they worked with one brother at one station (Ron at KSTP in the 70s), they went to work with another brother at another station (Paul at WTCN/KARE).

I honestly had no idea he was viral but his dancing seems pretty legit (much better than the average TikToker). Seems like he was ousted unexpectedly, so this is sad. FOX 46 needs to get over its growing pains soon, because there's been too much switcharoo recently.

I think George could have left ABC by now if he wanted. Let’s be honest there is a arguable point that the face of GMA anchor is better than anchor of the basement evening broadcast.

In regards to KATC, even though their current logo is on station vehicles, their sign outside their studios still has the 80s-90s "3" logo design; that sign has been in place since (I'm guessing) at least 1983-84 (this is when Loyola University New Orleans owned the station and KATC had the same news theme music as then-sister station WWL in NOLA). So I would not be surprised if, in addition to changes eventually showing up on-air, we also see a new logo on station vehicles AND a new sign for the station outside.......

Walter was off this weekend too. Maggie filled in Saturday, and Sarah soloed on Sunday. They’ve been weird with fill-ins at noon. I think it’s been a while since Christie filled in as well. The reason it’s mentioned is because there is a vacancy. Geez, I didn’t realize it was such a nuisance for the 3-4 of us that actually come to the Philadelphia subforum. We obviously enjoy discussing the observations. If there is any city subforum that has too much over posting and needs cleaning, it’s Chicago.
