  1. You answered your own question. Most CBS O&O's do this for the Super Bowl, Grammys, and anything else, because their stations are generally lower-rated and understaffed on the weekend desk, so it's a great opportunity to feature the main anchor team following a large lead-in.

  2. After uploading clips from my most recent trips, I figured I'd go back to getting classic content back up. Part of a KHOU 10 PM newscast from late 1988 which was on my old channel And something new - a complete 10 PM newscast from KPRC - from May 10, 1985

  3. What you call clinical, on TV, is clean and bright with well-defined curves and lines, and color that pops on camera. This is what an updated set should look like. It brings no more attention to the differences in set design elements. It merges old with new, allowing the set to be a supporting character in each newscast, not detracting attention from the story. Sets that have contrasting feature walls, beautiful or not, can be extremely distracting and appear to be from an interior design project.

  4. At about 6 min in is a full 10pm KXII newscast from August 25, 1993. Looks to be very recent into using KPNX's 12 logo, as the previous logo can be see on the set: https://archive.org/details/12_News_Late_Edition_CBS_WOC_1993-08-25 The same user also uploaded a full KTEN newscast from January 22, 1995, when they were an ABC/NBC/Fox station: https://archive.org/details/Newscenter_10_KTEN_NBC_WOC_1995-01-22

  6. The end of an era, as WLNS is finally replacing their Young set-in-a-box. They're currently on a temporary set, with completion expected early next year.

  7. I've noticed her prominence as well. Savannah is alright. She's earned her stripes as of late but I'm iffy about her as head anchor of NBC News. I'm surprised she made it nearly 8 years as host of Today.

  8. Lighting over Dennis was terrible Guess it was more of a refresh of the old set - less of the blue more white...which is a lousy background for TV Looks very clinical but hey at least they avoided the set in a corner look

  10. Excuse the image quality, but they chose Super Bowl night to launch the new set and graphics. (from WLAJ's airing of the 11pm news)

  11. Prime time was when WNDU became Wood TV on Adelphia cable now Comcast from 8PM to 11PM in the 90's but there was no syndex it wasn't blacked out. Had WNDU & WSBT out of South Bend, WSYM Fox47 from Lansing, WWOR in NYC was taken off on New Year's Eve in 1994, WGN everyone in the midwest had WGN Superstation. I was surprised that Adelphia cable didn't have WKBD out of Detroit which was Michigan's superstation in the 80's & 90's Cablevision had it on channel 10 I think in 93 or 94 they may have gotten rid of it. I think I remember Time Warner Cable was in a dispute with Hearst

  12. Forgive me if I'm mistaken but I think this is actually a derivative (or the same, not sure) of the Enforcer cut that WCCO uses. The whole version usually plays during the close of WCCO newscasts (I think). So I don't think this is new. As far as the new Enforcer cuts, I think KCNC is the only station to use it regularly (and I'm honestly not a fan --- it's so...dark. And oddly foreboding.)

  13. Same thing with Maria. She used to be one of CNBC'S biggest stars. Now I don't think she talks about business or the stock market anymore. She and Dobbs have both destroyed their careers. Dobbs at 75 will likely retire. I wonder if Maria will be next and more will follow after that?

  14. I see but still 6 days a week. If I ran telemundo news I wouldn’t want one of my main anchors off during the week.
