  1. The article clearly overlooks that Deerfield owns KBTV. In actuality, it's probably the minimum number of Deerfield employees, while everyone else works for Sinclair. Perhaps another scenario could be the "total separation" of KBTV from KFDM and run completely by Deerfield. If it's just a bunch of diginets, then it's a turnkey operation. The cost savings could be from having to cough up a monthly fee from Sinclair for running their station. It wouldn't surprise me if this scenario plays out in other Deerfield markets over time....

  2. WPIX is already providing New Year's Eve live shots to Nexstar stations tonight.

  3. They have used it sparingly. For interviews, a stand-ups and Traffic Hits. Nothing outside of that. Funny that WBNS now has the oldest set in the market with WCMH and WSYX just getting new sets recently.

  4. He has been on the CBS Evening News a few times over the past two weeks (I think from the weather barn in his home). Probably just time off at WCBS for the holidays. I would not read too much into it. Kristine and Maurice have been off for two weeks, too.

  6. According to his Facebook and Twitter page, he's still there and so is his bio. His last posting was on Christmas. https://www.facebook.com/69WFMZ/videos/222287446007474/

  7. They need one! It was eight years in October since they debuted their current set. Wow, how much has changed at 10TV since then...

  8. It is his Work from Home location. All other newscast on WBNS have come their main news set. So no new set here.

  11. It might be dumb to us but it showcases brand recall and is a driving force for internal culture.

  12. I think they increased the KTVK/KPHO simulcast considerably since March 2020/covid. Understand the financial/staffing reasoning behind it, but "Arizona's Family News" has to be the dumbest brand on local TV right now (and the Calibri logotype makes my eyes bleed)... regardless if it was KTVK's slogan for years prior to the KPHO merger.

  13. Is this the first time that KTVK and KPHO have a shared identity between the two stations? I'm trying to recall what the stations did before, since they've been sister stations ever since Belo sold out to Gannett and Meredith picked up KTVK.

  14. It sounds like a sale could be in the works for KBTV. It's a Deerfield station so maybe it's the sacrificial lamb for all the FCC fines they racked up in the AT&T carriage flap last year. 500k per station times the number of stations Deerfield had last year could be close to a realistic sale amount. Moving FOX to KFDM also cements the control to Sinclair. I guess we'll have to wait and see what becomes of "FOX 4"....

  15. I’ve seen that one around. The color peacock is back. Noticed this one around the other day too. Wonder what they will do with the set... Add a skyline shot? They've been using the current graphics that are nice and colorful.

  17. Losing the Indians was another blow back in 2001. Back in the 90s WUAB had the highest game ratings in the country when the Indians were good. By letting WBNX and other stations get the better syndicated shows, they overtook them in the ratings and cost them the CW initially. Plus at the time, WUAB was one of the few netlet stations that Raycom had at the time, so they had little experience to draw upon.

  18. It's been on YT for several months, but here I present for you an episode of WOI-TV's Five Country Closeup from January 8, 1980, which includes a slick early-CGI ID using The Best Things in Life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7srqi8itko The ID was created by a Seattle-based firm called Alpha Cine (who also designed graphics for KOMO & KSTW): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwuOJ8zTg3g And that's by no means all! In another video, I found the news open they had back then, which used a new cut of TBTIL that I've not heard before: https://youtu.be/Q8tOk9Fto94?t=1829
