  1. This KWTV theme reeks of VTS now that I'm hearing more of it. @TServo2049 do you have any info on this one?

  2. I highly doubt it. Politicians send those types of letters to make their constituents think they're trying to end the dispute, but I doubt they do actually do anything. It's mainly just for show.

  4. Thanks to Mr. Sloan we have more OKC TV stuff uncovered. First we go to the Station "Where the News Comes First.. 24 Hours a Day.", that's KFOR in 1992. This one is one of the 2 interesting transitional periods that took place at 444 East Britton Road throughout the 1990s and this was one of them. In this instance they have dropped "News Team 4" for "News Channel 4" but kept the same theme song they've used (at that time) since the 1990 callsign change. And yes that is Bob Bruce before he left for what is now known KSAZ in 1992. Next up, KOCO and KWTV (and yes this was during Jon Slater's first stint here in OKC prior to going up the Turner to Tulsa):

  5. The ground floor lease that included the streetside studio also includes the current studio as well as the control room. There are floorplans on the site for the streetside studio space. Anyone leasing the old streetside studio would sublease it from CBS. From what I understand, they lease the ground floor studio space and the first two floors of space above it, plus the garage below. There are 12+ years left on the entire lease according to the streetside studio listing. Fun fact: The elephant doors to bring large items into the studios (i.e. set pieces) are actually in the mall entry immediately north of the streetside studio.

  6. No it has nothing to do with the WWOR's NJ License. Even though "New Fox" & "News Corp." are two separate companies, both are still controlled by the Murdochs. When Pai eliminated the Newspaper-Broadcast Cross-Ownership (NBCO) rule (part of that dereg rule he had in 2017), the Murdochs didn't need to ask for a waiver. But when the Third Circuit vacated & remand Pai's dereg measure in the fall of 2019, it reinstated the NBCO rule, thus them asking for a permanent waiver this time. Even though it already had a permanent waiver to keep the Post & WNYW (since 1993), it didn't have one for The Post & WWOR, even though it granted them temporary waivers on three occasions (2001, 2006 & 2014). I guess the reason why they gave them this temp waiver this time, they're basically saying lets wait until the outcome of the media ownership case in the Supreme Court. So for example, if SCOTUS rule that the NBCO stays, then the temporary waiver will stay active for 180 days after ruling. If its the other way around and they rule NBCO no longer needed, then the Murdochs would keep Fox 5, My 9 & the Post. Pai could've easily granted them a permanent waiver. But I think he's banking on a Republican-controlled SCOTUS to rule in their favor so the court can put an end to the NBCO once and for all.

  11. That’s the one aspect I loved about that market when I lived near there 6-10 years ago and should not change is the separation of focus between the two stations. WEAR is completely a Florida based TV station where WPMI focused mostly on Alabama.
