  1. I agree. Whether or not there's a new package coming, there's nothing to really discuss at this time. Those that know about it can't share info, and the rest of us are merely speculating. No real need to continue this until some tangible evidence starts to surface.

  2. Here's the NewsNation graphics and animation Then, look at Tegna graphics Lastly, look at the Scripps package (from ABC7 KMGH Denver) What do all these have in common? These motion graphics look like they were done on After Effects. No 3-D looking whatsoever like most other stations. I should know, I use After Effects myself. IMO, these graphics and news opens look simple and fun to make. Are there any other stations using news opens and motion graphics the same way? PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT a list thread, nor will

  7. Dave Walker and Lois Hart were another husband-and-wife team at CNN back in the 1980s. In fact, they anchored the channel's premiere broadcast on June 1, 1980. Here's a short profile of the duo:

  12. Follow-up since the KSIX transaction closed a couple of months back. A callsign changed occured in the Big Island on November 13th. The station that was KFVE (the former KHBC-TV) is now KSIX-TV. And the station that was KSIX-TV (the station Gray just bought) is now KFVE. No word if the "K5" stream (KHNL-DT2) is airing on the new KFVE.

  13. Me and @ABC 7 Denverhave a lot more information about them than you guys. It is a whole brand new package. You guys will like it.... the main font will be Gotham. They’ll use flat elements mostly and from what I’ve seen they give TEGNA a run for its money. And ABC will adopt a new flat weather icon set. And ABC7ny will switch to Baron and maybe WPVI too. Everything is changing guys. Flat , modern and ABC is gonna prove they’re number 1 This new package will be way different. But ABC considers the KABC package as it’s cu mandate. I’m the new mandate it’ll look more refreshing wi

  16. And WTVDs is about 7 years old it's basic bones and the 2018/2019 update is about 2.5 years old!!! The new opening title card are a year old!!!

  17. I can't imagine any circumstance where a standardized package is anything currently in use. WABC's current look is 4.5 years old KABC/KGO/KFSN is 5 The basic bones of WLS is 7 years old WPVI goes back 3.5 KTRK is 5.5 years old None are new enough to be seen as "fresh" for a complete roll-out.

  18. Yeah, there have been rumors of standardization for years. I assume when or if they do it will be a completely new package.

  22. "What? Why? How many OTA News Networks do we need?" Did you not read the news release? Multicultural News Network (MNN), a "non-partisan national news network" dedicated to (including, but not limited to) the Black, Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern, Native American, and LGBTQ voices and communities.

  25. Speaking of CBSN, looks like the producers at KDKA are pushing to unionize, with CBSN mentioned in the release. As far as I know, they’ve been running a bare bones operation since the launch and the last round of Viacom cuts:

  26. KCPQ's 2016 look is definitely one of the better ones of the 2010s. Also WHIO's 1993 and 1995 looks are both ahead of their time: Gotta love this one:

  27. Yeah, I don't like the Michael Douglas V/O on the current NBC Nightly News. Another one to add is this 1988 WGRZ open that seems a bit dated, even for 1988: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aSMBNxoI94

  29. People are failing to realize this is intended to be a very niche operation looking to serve highly under-covered communities and demographics or communities/demographics that are often portrayed in a negative light by the existing networks. If you're a minority, hearing there's a planned news network whose goal is to exclusively cover minorities like you and bring attention to things that are often overlooked is pretty exciting. Yes, it'll be hard to get up and going and keep going, but the fact the effort is being made at all is commendable. The U.S. has a huge history of minority news opera

  30. As far as WPVI, 615 did a modern update of MCTYW a while back. It may be time for another. Graphics wise, the standard package should come from either Hothaus Creative or whoever did that on air look at WLS. Even a custom take on the WPVI graphics isn’t a bad idea. Music wise, Gari’s Eyewitness News hasn’t been updated since 2014, & it seems like 615 has taken over that task (Advantage, CBS Enforcer, & This Is Home). Stephen Arnold hasn’t done any type of ABC affiliate package since 2003 (currently Pinnacle). Something needs to happen soon.
