  2. They are slowly hiring back. The layoffs are an excuse to get rid of expensive talent. They are then replaced with cheaper folks. for example.. pam zekman who was let go, was likely making 400-500K. this new chick from dallas is probably coming in at 120k. they still save money all the O and O’s are slowly hiring back.

  3. Another big clip from btm0815ma: the first two-thirds (the hour portion) of the second broadcast of Sunday Morning w/Charles Kuralt, Feb. 4, 1979 (apparently a raw feed, as at one point you see the studio empty, and then Charles comes back in to his easel, among other things):

  4. Long day for weather fill-in Tammie Souza today. She did the 4:30-7AM news, 12 noon, 4, 5, 6, 10 and 11 PM shows.

  5. Looks like WFIE launched “14News Now”. According to the post they can immediately go live on any platform. Looking at the pictures, I see WLOX’s graphics package in the background. Bet WFIE be switching soon.

  7. Well, since it is 2020, could Comcast/Xfinity have a retransmission consent issue with (gasp) itself?!?!?!??!?!? https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/comcast-could-lose-local-nbc-channels-more-in-carriage-disputes-with-itself-and-others/?fbclid=IwAR074B03v6DGumw6RHc98mHNYmUQQgfbjJ7Hqxe5_BWpCKAdpie-jBeeD0Y Looking at the list, Weigel and others are up in October and Hearst, Cox, Capitol/WRAL, Hubbard and NBC/Comcast are up in December.

  8. As if screwing up their chances to own the former Tribune stations wasn't enough. Nexstar got them fair and square and is now reaches twice as many people. Any other deal in the pipeline is going to be a lot more messy should they want to grow their station portfolio...that is, if they can even afford it now.
