  1. Looks like WKYT took a couple of cues from WNBC in the talent portion of the open.

  2. In fairness, there have been a lot of questionable WHDH firings over the years (most notably Boston TV legend Randy Price) so this is very much in the Ed Ansin mold. Both Amaka Ubaka and Polikseni Manxhari have posted words of praise for Alaina, so it's clear that there is blowback inside 7 Bulfinch Place. Independently owned TV stations are often easier to support in theory than in actual practice.

  3. This! The signature at the very beginning does sound similar to the old production theme music they had used for the last 20yrs, though.

  5. If it was any other shop, they would’ve re-read the rules to her and suspended her AT WORST. I’m actually glad she took the high road, but STILL...

  7. The only station group that does virtual studios reasonably well is what Global is doing north of the border at the major-market Global O&O stations originally with Orad, and now Avid. Had hopes Scripps might have figured things out by now for their virtual studio shops but clearly there's more work to be done.

  8. Sinclair has closed on its purchase of two Class A stations in the DC market. One station will be used as an ATSC 3.0 data mux. WIAV-CD is apparently going to be broadcasting UniMás under a CSA with Entravision. (Why is WIAV authorized for 48 kW ERP?)

  10. Shockingly, Griffin's KWTV/KSBI isn't among that group. I think they must be waiting for Tulsa to join the ATSC 3.0 bandwagon before they too join the bandwagon.

  11. ATSC 3.0 is Live in Oklahoma City The five stations broadcasting NextGen TV in Oklahoma City include Hearst’s KOCO-TV (ABC), Nexstar Media Group’s KFOR-TV (NBC) and KAUT-TV (IND); and Sinclair’s KOKH-TV (Fox) and KOCB-TV (CW).

  12. After a bit of a lull in ATSC 3.0 developments, there was a big launch today on October 7th. https://tvnewscheck.com/article/top-news/254354/four-austin-stations-roll-out-atsc-3-0/ AUSTIN: Nexstar's KXAN (NBC) and KBVO (MyNetworkTV) Vaughan's KNVA (CW) Sinclair's KEYE (CBS) I guess Tegna and Fox weren't ready for the switch yet. As for the next markets to watch for imminent launches, TVTechnology reports Denver, Los Angeles, Mobile/Pensacola (as mentioned above), and Oklahoma City. https://www.tvtechnology.com/news/atsc-30-deployments-where-and-when-will-nextgen-tv-be-available (ATSC's official map: https://www.atsc.org/nextgen-tv/deployments/)
