  1. IMHO, it's not bad. I like it. Minimalist and classy. Genuine and warm. It fits both of them well.

  2. Whit and Cecilia seem to be the common backups on weekends and after Tom on weekdays. I actually enjoy Dan on GMA weekend and don’t think he’s best suited for evenings. And I feel like you guys are in the minority here. People are tuning in so people do like David and Tom’s style of delivery.

  3. No, nothing changed on that front. I think the conversation in this thread had a slight bit of a diversion of speculations without re-specifying what the existing arrangement was and what the new arrangement would be. I think the gist is that some of us opined if they were insistent on having solo anchors, then the 6 would be a better option for that (like the 11AM), instead of having a solo anchor for an hour-long newscast (AKA the 5).

  5. I don't want to go off topic too much but I use Bandicam & Bandicut for my videos and I paid for both so I can remove the watermark plus I can keep full newscasts (to myself) in case they use talent opens. Leave that "13" alone, they had it since '97 when FOX owned them. Besides I don't want them to switch to WTVT's or WHBQ's 13.

  6. Agreed. I talked to an anchor at WFIE who has heard absolutely nothing and they are wondering too. The weather graphics on WFIE - the L3 weather ticker during forecasts - has been updated to the white/Helvetica/blue to match WMC and others. So maybe they are going that route long term?

  7. I checked out KGNS's live stream over the weekend and they're using the WMC package (seems to be the default graphic pack for most of their footprint). But it sounds like they've dropped Inergy for two music themes. On the opens its U-Phonix, but on the bumpers/teases and closes its Third Coast. As for WIFR, it appears they have a variant of the WBAY/WBTV graphic package with a change of fonts.

  8. I thought it was more Media General wanting to even the score after CBS left WISH in the dust.

  9. Nah, it was the other way around, more CBS dropped WRAL-TV they could’ve still stayed CBS for a long time, it was Les Moonves Greed at the time on affiliation fees. To the CBS North Carolina branding yes it was reflective to WNCN the call letters represented that and yes they had an emphasis on covering news from the whole state. Did it cause confusion yes cause confusion yes because people thought it was the CBS affiliate for the whole state and other NC affiliates felt slapped in the face. And it was just a bogus, whack branding.

  11. Probably the worst View logo they’ve ever had in my opinion and I didn’t think they needed to change the logo. https://logos.fandom.com/wiki/The_View

  12. Today is WPXI 11's 63rd anniversary. A little history can be found here: https://www.pbrtv.com/wpxi-at-63/

  13. Today marks the 24th anniversary of the launch of ABC 33/40 in Birmingham. At the time, it was a merger of WCFT TV-33 in Tuscaloosa and WJSU TV-40 in Anniston, coupled with a low-powered station in Birmingham, WBMA-LP. This also merged the two markets into Birmingham, and eventually made WBMG (now WIAT) the sole CBS affiliate for the now-combined market. WNAL was supposed to be the "second" station, but that went to WJSU instead....they served as the CBS affiliate for the remaining tenure of Anniston-Gadsden's time as a separate market. Allbritton would continue to run the stations until their merger with Sinclair. "33" and "40" were sold off to Howard Stirk at the last second after Sinclair tried some antics to "own" them outright, but decided to give up the licenses unless a buyer was found. Today, the station is avaiable on WBMA-LD, WABM-DT2, WDBB-DT2, and is still simulcast on Stirk-owned WGWW-DT2 (the former WJSU or "40") Several staff members are still there today, including anchor Brenda Ladun, and of course, the venerable James Spann who had departed WBRC for their switch to Fox as part of this launch.

  15. I see either Nexstar or Sinclair taking the MNT affiliation in Fresno. Additionally whoever does will likely assume the production responsibilities of the 8pm newscast from KFSN. EDIT: Somehow we missed this one. Sonya Heitshusen is leaving WHO 13 after 17 years in Des Moines (h/t @ColtFromGulfcoast) https://who13.com/news/sonya-heitshusen-says-farewell-after-17-years-at-who-13/
