  1. TJ Holmes joining GMA3 as co-anchor starting Monday

  2. This is fantastic. I’ve watched more GMA this year than I have in several years, so I’m not sure how often Amy and TJ were paired before but their dynamic throughout much of this year has been awesome. That said, TJ is good with nearly everyone he’s paired with going back to his CNN days.

  4. This is where ABC excels in looking to the future. They know how to identify rising stars and put them in a position to be ready to slide into a bigger role. CBS should take note.

  5. Capitol Broadcasting Company is buying WARZ-CD Smithfield-Selma, NC, broadcasting to areas between Raleigh and Goldsboro, for use as an ATSC 3.0 mux for its Raleigh television stations. (The APA allows them to move the transmitter and file needed modification applications, so I suspect that's coming.) And it ain't cheap: they're shelling out $725,000.

  7. I see a 7pm newscast airing tonight on WNBC, in addition to a rerun of Nightly News at 7:30 again. When did this resume? I agree with @Roadrunner that 5:00 feels better with two anchors. 6:00 would feel right with a dual anchor format too, IMO. Hypothetically if Chuck ever got a co anchor again at 6:00, I like his two veteran rapport with Pat Battle anytime she's filled in. She's the best on Saturday mornings so understandably they wouldn't mess with that. If Dana Tyler —as someone mentioned—got a co anchor at 6:00 again, Dick Brennan might be a good fit. Stations really mix it up a lot now, compared to times past where noon & am often shared the same anchors as did 6 & 11pm.

  8. Happy to hear TJ is joining GMA3! Both he and Robach should be the heirs of GMA in my opinion whenever Robin or George decide to move on eventually, they both work great together. New logo on the promo, and I'm guessing new graphics (or slight adjustments) come next week: https://www.instagram.com/p/CFSDNnoBVDY/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

  9. And we certainly don’t need to rehash every week in between.

  12. Agreed. I talked to an anchor at WFIE who has heard absolutely nothing and they are wondering too. The weather graphics on WFIE - the L3 weather ticker during forecasts - has been updated to the white/Helvetica/blue to match WMC and others. So maybe they are going that route long term?

  13. WBNS went the cheap tegna route. If they wanted experience, they would have promoted Scott Light, or brought it someone of similar caliber. Instead they bring in a kid from Toledo, who is good, but hardly the most qualified. And, he is probably going to make 125k, instead of what the job should pay. But its not just WBNS. Look at CMH. They passed over the older white guy there (Johansen) who is clearly more experienced, for a younger kid, who looks misplaced next to Colleen.

  14. I’m sorry but an hour long newscast should not be anchored solo. I understand the pandemic perspective (and budget cuts) but in the long run I don’t see a solo an or at 5 working out.

  15. I was about to post the same thing. I was in my kitchen making dinner at looked at the oven clock at 6:46 and thought, wow! There hasn't been a commercial yet. I actually like the long intro thing. It gives enough details that if I don't want to keep watching, I don't have to, but leaves out some details. Lately this has been the kind of thing I turn on after my local news (on an independent station) ends and I start messing around with dinner in the kitchen. I can still see the screen from there and if I hear something interesting that I missed, I rewind the DVR

  16. That can't be 1-18-79... the call sign change from KTAR-TV was midyear. Apparently this is January 11, 1980...which puts it at the start of one of Arizona's worst flood years. Things would soon be worse for Phoenix...
