Apparently someone in the KPIX graphics department reads TVNT. Now roll this out across the O&Os!

ABC won't change anything with WNT as long as it's the #1 in the evening news lineup. Muir is a great anchor who does a great job, but I'm not a big fan of the sometimes overly dramatic presentation. Ever since CBS demoted Jeff Glor, I too think Lester and NBC have the best newscast. I also like that NBC now puts the full newscast on Youtube and the Kids Edition of Nightly News is pretty interesting.

After 66 years in their current building and 16+ years on their current set, their new building will be opening up "Later this fall". Was supposed to open up this spring, however, at least it wasn't a construction project from Gray that stalled and then fizzled out.

Plus, with how many stations Nexstar owns (between itself and Mission); it wouldn't surprise me any if they do a live western edition (given that the PBS NewsHour also does a live and updated news summary for the western edition/late night east coast feed). The music that has been made for NewsNation just sounds amazing, and the quick glimpse of the graphics looks good too.

I like the music package. It screams traditional news. Some of the package elements make me interested to see what else they are going to show on the show. Like car report and a couple others that they have themes for. I'm really hoping this goes off really well for them with how much is invested into this.

YEAH!!!!! I can get used to this!!!! LOVE the Music!!! I was hoping News Nation would have a good Soundtrack, not just focus on news and have no or very soft music. Sorry if I've been under a rock but can you Watch News Nation online on WGNA's site or it's own site or only on TV on WGNA?

The GM says there's nothing else like it in the country, while they use a third tier set designer. Decent for the market, not exactly unique though.

WZTV FOX 17 in Nashville has switched to the graphics.

If the rumblings I’m hearing are correct, expect the graphics to launch on KOAA by sometime in September... hearing they may be launching something else then too...

They were originally going to have a 4pm newscast when they acquired the CW affiliation but that never came to fruition. I'm curious to see what kind of format this show will take, and if they're going to start using the CBS 8 logo more instead of the NEWS 8 logo. Seems like they also dropped the 4:30am newscast, i'm sure it was to accommodate the noon newscast.

I personally can’t stomach much of WNT under Muir’s hand but because he’s been a smashing success (even before COVID-19) I don’t see them changing anything up. We’re still waiting on them to move to a new set that they’ve managed to use for several other programs. Without a doubt, Lester Holt and NBC are producing the best news product anywhere at 6:30 pm. They blow ABC and CBS out of the water.

Yeah, I feel like the headlines preview could be cut down to a minute or two. At least it's better than CBS'S "But first, the headlines in 60 seconds" that was used for a few months in Jeff Glor's run. I'm really getting tired of the "breaking news as we come on the air" or the "several developing stories" phrases. It sounds somewhat predictable and robotic and got old a couple years ago. I don't remember ABC doing this years ago. As much as I like Muir, I wish he could tone down the dramatic tone when reading the opening headlines. It won't happen though. I'm not a fan of the cold fade. I wish they'd show the outside camera of Times Square and an ending version of the music package. I'm glad NBC and CBS still do this.

I'm glad the people at KPLC abandoned ship and continued their work elsewhere. The radar stopped working while I was watching around midnight. This checks out.

Can David whispering “goodnight” and the cold fade to black stop as well, while we are putting in our TVNT requests?
  16. 1 point
It’s not going to stop. They’re the most watched program across all of television, not just news, but across all television. They’re unlikely to change anything about their current formula.

Agreed. And the “breaking news as we come on the air tonight” has got to stop.

COX's National News Tonight? Could THIS be Cox Broadcasting's answer to NewsNation from Nexstar?

While we didn't build the set, BDI did tap us to produce the coffee table with the Cleveland logo... Pretty happy with how it turned out and glad to know people like it!

Hurricane Laura toppled the towers of two Lake Charles TV stations: NBC affiliate KPLC and CBS affiliate KSWL. The KPLC tower fell on the station’s offices, ripping a huge hole in the roof of the news studio. Thankfully, the staff had already evacuated to sister Gray stations in Alexandria and Baton Rouge. KPLC’s GM says the rebuilding process could take a year. The KSWL tower fell on a neighboring building. KSWL, which is based in the old KVHP building, doesn’t do news so no crews to relocate. In the video below, the first downed tower they show without identifying is the KSWL tower. https://www.kplctv.com/2020/08/27/lake-charles-tv-station-tower-toppled-laura/
