  1. So the heritage Nexstar stations pre-2012 and some of the ex-Newport stations. There would be 32 conflicts if you assume that WUSA/WDCW/WDVM wouldn't pass muster, going from markets as large as Houston to as small as San Angelo.

  2. LOL that's rich. Time to oil up the Speclatron 9000.

  3. If Gray acquiring Tegna was difficult, Nexstar would be next to impossible.

  4. Plus Nexstar would run into a lot of cap issues too even with the discount. If anything Nexstar may only want stations such as WFAA, KHOU, KENS and WUSA (technically Nexstar would have a triopoly but since WDVM doesn't cover the entire D.C. market that makes WUSA/WDCW permissible) I seriously doubt Nexstar wants all of Tegna even if SCOTUS overrules the Third Circuit ruling on Pai's dereg moves.

  5. Somehow we missed this one but the Tegna sale is still a possibility. And not only that but Gray might actually come back to the table at a later date with an offer to acquire Tegna plus: Nexstar may want part of Tegna (the only question is which ones does Nexstar actually want out of Tegna should they do that) And don't rule out Standard Media acquiring Tegna either (yes, Standard Media) https://www.broadcastingcable.com/blog/the-last-belle-at-the-ball-tegna-broadcastings-investment-appeal I don't think the shareholder meeting will be the end of this stuff for Tegna

  6. No. You can still be creative while expressing today's design languages. Having 3D elements doesn't make it a guarantee that it'll be "creative" if one doesn't understand how its supposed to work with the design.

  7. Michael Jordan's legendary 63-point playoff game, Bulls v. Celtics, Game 2, 1986 Eastern Conference playoffs (quarterfinals) (double-OT; the Celtics still won despite all that); this is the radio broadcast from Jim Durham, overlaying the CBS television broadcast; first minutes are of the CBS setup of the game, then Jim Durham starts his feed on the Bulls Radio Network).

  8. It's the GMs decision about when/if to launch that... Part of the business integration process. I feel that, though, the Dispatch layout is superior and I think both GMs have that opinion as well.

  9. They may be under contract with their current provider for a little bit longer.

  10. KFMB, KUSA, KTVB, KARE, KSDK, WFAA, KHOU, WVEC, and all the Nexsrar acquisions have the Tegna 2020 website layout, meanwhile, neither of the Dispatch stations have been converted.

  11. Their performance is the result of strong profit margins, but not better content. You can still be profitable and not provide any value to anyone other than current shareholders. They aren't providing a superior product, just lower costs. So did KUSA, finally.

  12. It will be interesting to see how CBS does weekends after all of this is over. Hopefully they’ll move the weekend news into the CBS “news hub” (formerly studio 47) it looks great on tv and worked much better than the cluttered, odd studio 57 newsroom set.

  13. Have we reached the point where all graphics are so flat and generic that there's no creativity anymore? I say yes. I mean, the former example from Italy is a blatant ripoff, but can you blame them? (yeah, you can blame them) But still, I want some 3D creativity in my sports graphics!

  14. A montage of Rod Young's final ABQ2 news bulletin in October 2002. On November 4 (just 2 weeks after this show) he began working at BTQ7, where he anchored the 6pm news with Kay McGrath until moving to the Gold Coast news service in 2016. The video includes a network ID with a modern version of the classic 1985-2005 theme.

  17. Some really great uploads by btm0815ma; the clips are wonderfully curated and the descriptions have obviously been written by someone with deep knowledge of the history of TV news in this country. Do we know who btm0815ma is? Is he or she a member of this forum? Thank you for all your work if you're reading this.
