  1. the ratings will surely surge under the eyewitness news brand.... nothing better than a 70's gimmick to bring the viewers in...

  2. I won't be surprised if WEWS goes outside of the station to replace Danita for evenings. WKYC is beyond a trainwreck in the mornings (with Dave Chudowsky covering the Indians' spring training, they're having Jay Crawford filling-in on Tuesday morning), but WOIO seems like they are rebounding. They are stabilizing a bit with their current team, and having Jeff Tanchak back on the AM was a smart move. Jamie Sullivan also came back to the station a few years ago in the same spot she used to be in. "19 News" is a HUGE improvement over "Cleveland 19."

  3. This KMOV newscast from February 1995, using the "This Is Your News" moniker but the older imaging and music, shows how KMOV was starting to "soften up" compared to, say, a year prior, but they still had a ways to go compared to where they were by '96.

  4. you said the secret word!!! today's secret word is.... mandate... i guess they forgot about the "mandate" when they gave KVUE a new logo... and WCNC... need to impress tvnewstalk??? use the word "mandate!" works every time...

  5. TEGNA mandate requires the use of the PSIP in all branding. So it's most certainly either ABC 5 or WOI 5. So either they pickup WOI5.com or they keep ABC5Iowa.com as the root. The latter is cheaper.

  6. Or maybe bring back "Eyewitness News" for both WOI and WATN. ABC 5 (WOI-TV/DT) carried the Eyewitness News name from 2001-06 and (WATN) ABC 24 also carried it as well from 2000-10 back when they were WPTY.

  7. Also - before Tamron Hall, that studio was the former home of The Chew.

  8. They definitely will. It doesn't comport with their branding policies. ABC24.com redirects to LocalMemphis.com currently. So ABC24.com will become the root domain. WeAreIowa.com may remain the same, but it could redirect to ABC5Iowa.com as well, to align closer to Tegna's branding standards.

  9. Yes; that set was located in TV2 which is now home to Tamron Hall. I thought the election night set was extremely over the top and unnecessary.

  10. I liked this set a lot but I think it’s too much for a daily news program. Hopefully a more toned down version of this is what we’ll see. Was this in the studio Tamron Hall films in?

  11. Really? Just because of a rerun show? What the Fife? https://youtu.be/Q2nmUIvcd_0 WTHR, weekend 1997. Lexington viewers will recognize the meteorologist.

  12. ***RARE*** Here is CBS News offering election coverage back in 1974. You can also go to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVTQ7Jdm8_6L3RxH3_EAGMQ to check out the great stuff this person has uploaded.

  13. I wonder if new graphics will come with the studio relaunch. I like the current music, but if they do change it, I’m hoping it’s something with a nod back to the Peter Jennings-era music. Not a fan of the direction ABC News music has been going lately.

  14. The next chapter in the Ernest Angley saga is due to unfold in a Common Pleas Court-run mediation session. https://www.beaconjournal.com/news/20200213/grace-cathedral-former-minister-face-off-over-sordid-accusations?fbclid=IwAR37R35Gvm_GSy02J15ZyH8uQ5YKUpl-CUAbfc0hkUq67dteIlLXORzs580 Disturbing and sickening details aside, the accuser wanted to oust Angley or be compensated for his damages. And of course, the cult...i mean Church is standing behind Rev. Angley and his flock. He is now almost 98, and will not take part in any depositions due to "age-related maladies". In fact, the church has been run by a board of church-members since last year due to Rev. Angley's deteriorating health. Now let us pray that this situation comes to an end and someone other than a ministry or infomercial purveyor ends up with WBNX.......

  15. It’s the toupee, it makes him 40 years younger. Oh wait.

  16. The only reason why WUAB gave up The WB was because of their contracts to run both Indians and Cavs games OTA, which reaked havoc on juggling two networks with (at the time) partial schedules. Neither of those exist now, and MyTV is so irrelevant that it can be cleared between 1am-3am and no one would know otherwise. But switching affiliations this coming Monday? The CW must know something about WBNX that we don’t if they made a switch this abrupt.

  17. Sad news this time from across the pond again. Television Presenter Caroline Flack, 40, was found dead of an apparent suicide yesterday. She was the host of Britain's most popular show of the moment, ITV 2's Love Island. She was awaiting trial in a domestic assault case in March. She pled not guilty. However that case turned into a circus on part of the media (the sun, daily mail) + allegedly (by Flack's lawyer) Crown Prosecution Service (equivalent much to Dept. of Justice in U.S) for pressing forward trial despite her boyfriend wishing not to press charges. She later stepped down from hosting LI before this new season commenced a while ago. Door was open for her return once the trial settles. Her vulnerability on the spotlight as been well documented. It was a whirlpool that was sudden + threw everyone off. ITV has since pulled two consecutive nights (last night + tonight) of Love Island off schedule. No word on future episodes or if the series will continue under Flack's shadow? Flack was the face of the show, and her death is the third suicide from the show, joining two former contestants whose fate was eerily the same. If you or someone you know is facing depression, someone is out there to listen to you. Have strength to seek help if you can. Unfortunately in cases like this, it's a vicious cycle where one's vulnerability is exposed + magnified in the spotlight + on social media that it sped up on its breaking point which sadly brought this result. Also, quite hypocritical of those judging on her love life or life of the party (read:"cougar") are now sending condolences + wishing others to be kind. Got a bit of blood on their hands, i'm afraid. I'm of the belief right now there's no end in sight for this. At this time strength to Caroline's friends + family. https://www.itv.com/news/2020-02-15/caroline-flack-itv-love-island-presenter-found-dead/ Note: National Suicide Prevention Lifeline phone number: 1-800-273-8255
