  1. Just listened to my first WCAU weather report on KYW Newsradio (that felt weird to type)... They apparently have to tag out with "Count on It".... ...I'm completely dead.

  2. KYW had been simulcasting EN even after the spinoff. IIRC part of the terms of the spinoff were, CBS was to maintain their partnerships with the radio stations for a year and then they were free to do whatever they want. The Philly cluster partnering with NBC 10 is just the first shoe to drop. That said there's nothing stopping other markets from just reupping with the CBS O&O they were previously aligned with. I think it's safe to say Entercom Philly couldn't wait to be free of CBS3 and the mess they're currently in.

  5. That totally makes sense.. At least for Philly, it broadens the coverage base. I want to see which other markets will do what Philly is doing. One thing is for sure I don't expect NYC or Wash DC to do this just yet. However, if it works in Philly, than I could see the other NBC O&O's jumping on the philly bandwagon with Entercom.

  6. From across the pond, personal yet big news at ITV's This Morning. Longtime presenter Phillip Schofield revealed that he's gay. His co-presenter + friend Holly Willoughby kicked off the announcement with a public statement. Prior to the event, Phillip has been married to his wife Steph for 27 years (they met at the BBC, she was a Production Assistant, he was CBBC presenter) + has two adult daughters. The full video below (as of this typing) has garnered more than 4.5 million views within 24 hours. Phillip stated that although it hasn't been easy, he since has gained full support of his family. This comes heels off a supposed 'row' (british for feud) between Phillip + fellow colleague Ruth Langsford, who accused him of a 'toxic' backstage atmosphere that alleged feud has created. Was there any whisper behind the scenes regarding his sexuality? Regardless, much strength + good vibes for phillip + his family.

  8. It was mentioned a few weeks ago on this thread, but WTKR, WTVR and WPIX are keeping their existing graphics and music.

  9. Don't forget the KSBY package with the Tower music pkg. They have used Tower since 2001. It'll be a sad day if Tower is no longer heard on their airwaves. KSBY's package could easily live on another 5 years without aging a day. Very nice package.

  11. An interesting 1982 close from WGN in Chicago with the credits given by the announcer: The set is a slightly modified version of the one seen in this 1980 clip, when WGN's news aired at 10 p.m. and was using NewsNine branding:

  12. I'm surprised there was any belief Fox would even dare to implement team-specific fonts to the XFL when the NFL is clearly miles ahead in popularity and ratings. Not expecting anything different if other sports they cover like MLB and college football are treated the same should they get this package. As for the TD graphic above? That's a good place to start if they want to do that for "featured" players in the NFL. Get their best shots from photoshoots or use headshots if that's more convenient for every player, regardless of who is/is not star-worthy. Not sure if I posted the evidence here, but I prefer they just use no image at all like after this TD from the Big Game itself.

  21. I thought I was the only one. Something just didn't click when I watched her. Also, early in her time in Philly, I think I heard her refer to Center City as "Philly Metro".

  23. I don't know. Tammie was good at her job, but I don't think she clicked with viewers here. "You're going to need the rain slickers today...", that's just one example. The other thing was getting the chief title from "Hurricane". I know that was a management decision, but I think that didn't sit well with viewers as well. These are just my opinions, I would love to hear yours. Also, guesses on the next 4,6, &11 meteorologist?
