  1. Just for fun, here's a bagful of mic flags from Nexstar at the Super Bowl. They will have done more than 1,600 live shots by the end of Sunday.

  2. An update from W 66th St: The temp set is now gone, as renovation has expanded to that part of TV3. The GMA studio will be getting even more use now, with that new small ABC News Live studio the only one operational at 47 West.

  3. So I guess they did incorporate the NBC signature into the music. Wonder why KJRH is the only one using it so far? Also they actually seem to be using all the package has to offer (not so much in this example, but I watched their stream last night, and they had all sorts of cuts I hadn’t heard before that sounded pretty good.) All the other stations seem to be using the same three generic cuts. And that opening motion graphic with the 2 logo looks great, but no one else has anything like that. Why did it take a 3rd place mid market station halfway through the group’s launch to actually use the package to its fullest potential?

  5. Yep. As long as Scripps doesn't change it to Tomorrow's TMJ4

  6. Yeah but here's the difference between Rob and Jay. AFAIK, Jay has only done sports being that he was at ESPN for 15 years. He hasn't actually anchored a hard newscast like Rob and Russ have. Rob was a fill in at WABC. He's done hard news. That's why he easily adjusted to it. Even Betsy, who isn't even an anchorwoman, has done hard news. IMO, I just don't think Jay could do hard news. That would be a major transition for him. He doesn't do hard news on this 5pm show, from what I seen, and he didn't do that during the Lunch Break show. I hope I'm wrong if they are grooming him to replace Russ, but I'm not so sure...

  7. Tonight's show appears to be coming from one lf their flashcam setups, with brighter lighting, no wide shots, and only OTS graphics.

  9. Casey Kasem (who also voiced Shaggy) was also the voice of NBC in the late 70s...I wonder if Silverman was responsible for this too?

  10. They named Fred after him, which always struck me as odd, because Hanna-Barbera already had a Fred (Flintstone). He also told them to do a series of shorts starring Moby Dick, the crime-fighting whale. Who had a sidekick, a seal named Scooby...who was also voiced by Don Messick.

  14. WNT actually stuck with it for 15 minutes, and had a quick mention of it coming out of the first break before reporting on the impeachment trial showdown and the state of emergency in Puerto Rico. The final two minutes was a wrap up of the breaking news. Regardless of how long each network covered it, keep in mind that the evening news teams at ABC, CBS and NBC spend hours each day building the thirty minute newscast. For them to throw out all that work just minutes before air time and reshape the entire program on the fly, based on actual breaking news, is no small feat. Kudos to all of them.

  15. That's a given. The backdrop behind the anchors is the video wall, something they've been doing since before the renovations began. The question is ultimately the legitimacy of the area on the left (to the anchors' right).
