  2. Michael surely made some mistakes, but so much of this is rooted in Kelly's insecurities. Almost a decade later, she's still convinced that Regis left the show, in some part, because of her. He was 80 years old, at the time. He was just ready to go.

  3. 6AM graphics now uploaded, less energy but these come off more inviting than the evening newscasts, probably because they feel the use of the music is more appropriate in the morning and afternoon? I wish they would see how much their tone of delivery sends an impression, people will keep watching the clowns at KUSA unless they show more care and concern for the sensitivity of viewers.

  5. Who's left with Choppers in Canada? I think Global still has Choppers in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver with CTV's in Toronto and CBC has none. I think Citytv used to have one for Toronto but even I'm not sure about that.

  6. CIVT-DT (CTV Vancouver) is reportedly retiring Chopper 9 tomorrow (Jan 31), as per this tweet: Chopper 9 was the first TV news helicopter of its kind in Western Canada (a Bell 206 jetranger, similar to CFTO's helicopter), and CTV Vancouver always promoted the heck out of it. But as of late, the chopper's on-board camera is still in SD. Meanwhile, Global BC/CTN has been flying a Robinson R44 news helicopter since the 2010s, with the chopper getting an HD camera upgrade in the last few years.

  7. Could a potential fifth hour be headed to the Peacock streaming service, possibly with the option for affiliates to pick it up if they want?

  8. Going back to its pre-2016 days. Plus, there's no weekend edition too.

  10. WBBM's 2008 farewell to its historic studios -- among other things, the site of the Nixon-Kennedy debate and one of the first newsroom sets. Lots of great footage in this report:

  12. Spoiler: Instead of flat boxes, now it's underlined Comic Sans text. Probably. Maybe.

  13. 1983 Week 11 Seattle/St. Louis NFL broadcast on NBC, from the old Busch Stadium in St. Louis (preceded by a full edition of NBC's NFL '83 pregame show w/Len Berman, Pete Axthelm, Bill Macatee, Dave Marash and Ahmad Rashad; the first time I've ever seen that season's NFL pregame show from NBC)

  14. She would be a perfect addition for CBS3. (see below) That's shocking. I never knew (or at least forgot) that WCAU recently dropped her. I haven't watched it during the evenings in a while, so AFAIK I thought she was still on the First Alert Weather lineup up till now. I originally disagreed, but after some thought, you're kind of right. Tammie is definitely a better fit for the chief title (she did wield it strongly at WCAU). Since Bilo is chief currently, a move to mornings would be a big demotion (unless she wants more family time). (again, see below.) In fact, if/when Tammie is hired sometime soon, here are the timeslots I'd give for them: Tammie: 5, 10 (on WPSG) and 11 Kate Bilo: 4 and 6 (her bubbly personality fits better here) Matt Peterson: weekday mornings Lauren Casey: weekend mornings Tiffany Savona: weekend evenings (Casey and Savona will switch as I feel their respective timeslots should be reflective of their personalities)

  15. Not sure if anyone noticed, but recently KUNS (Univision Seattle) got the current graphics and music. Making the first Spanish language Sinclair station to do so.

  18. The only executive ever in the industry who ran ABC, CBS + NBC in a television landscape that was run basically by those aforementioned networks has passed away thursday at age 82. Fred Silverman was also a TV Producer with a life only some hotshots could only dream of. Who knew the infamous 'rural purge' could lead to programming greatness? I could list a slew of hit shows he launched but I could list some bombs as well. (Hello, Supertrain, Pink lady + Jeff?) Deadline explains it all below. There aren't many of his like out these days, let alone any executive. Godspeed, Mr Silverman: https://deadline.com/2020/01/fred-silverman-dies-legendary-tv-executive-producer-was-82-1202847035/

  19. Sticking to Washington, DADOSUPERMARIO2 has been uploaded some TVARK stuff, like this WUSA open from ‘05: Really sad that an almost 15 year old graphics package could actually do better now instead of the dumpster fire that is TEGNA.
