  2. Nancy O’Dell before she was famous. A 1992 report from her at WCBD. Dan Ashley is one of the news anchors.

  3. Tell it to "KYC management and Tegna, they're screwing everything up. They need to listen to the people. They want traditional newscast back.

  4. I seen that video. It was so cringy. They need to go back to Channel 3 News. Immediately because this is getting ridiculous.

  5. If you can bear 3+ minutes of Mike Polk trying to get children to understand the 'new' WKYC programming schedule... https://youtu.be/_yv753eDTZc My guess...if he went to a Giant Eagle parking lot and asked adults the same questions, nobody would know what he's talking about. How much longer until we can be done with this and just call it "Channel 3 News" again?

  6. This article on the announcement of What's New actually touches on Lunch Break's cancellation, only briefly, but doesn't mention why. https://www.cleveland.com/arts/2019/12/wkyc-studios-will-offer-more-talk-with-whats-new-hosted-by-betsy-king-and-jay-crawford.html It seemed that Lunch Break was supposed to also have guest co-hosts in addition to WKYC stars. The only one I remember who took part was Geraldo Rivera's wife. Now as of today, the morning "news" now starts at 4:30am instead of 4am, and Live on Lakeside has changed its name to It's About You. Don't be surprised if there's not a lot of actual news on the 5pm show.

  7. What’s the point of having standardized graphics if you’re not going to require each and every station to use them? Scripps is a complete dumpster fire.

  8. Ladies and Gentlemen...the premiere episode of What's New! (take a look at 25:03 in particular)

  9. I streamed a little bit of What's New and (at least the part I saw) is pretty much Lunch Break...just at 5pm. The show itself isn't bad, it's just not what people want to watch.

  10. I honestly don't even know if there are any complaints in Cleveland about this, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if there are. They do need to listen to the people, but they won't. And while TEGNA has screwed with most of their stations, WKYC got screwed up with the most. And that needs to change.

  11. Earlier today, Newshub (Three's news service) premiered its new graphics and theme music. Excerpts of Jornal da Band from February 2008. High-definition telecasts began 2 months before, in December 2007, with Band being the first in Brazil to adopt the new technology for news programs. The newsroom looks great, but not the anchordesk. A full edition of the Australian Today show in August 2003. Before watching this video, I'd never imagine that they still used the late 1990s theme for the intro. A time later, they replaced it with commercial songs, such as U2's Beautiful Day and Coldplay's Clocks.

  12. So Standard General as part of their response to Tegna that I shared Yesterday this one here expands on what was originally reported that @tyrannical bastard shared last week. They have filed with the SEC a Schedule 14A, as recently as Thursday and according to that report it mentions names like Stephen Usher, David Glazek, and Michael Perrone as names of those that are part of the proxy fight to take over Tegna I think Soo brought more than just a crew he brought an ARMY of those that are willing to join Kim in the fight to takeover Tegna, this is getting more and more interesting as I'm reading these articles related to Standard/Tegna.

  13. I'd say both parties involved in this are being bullies (Tegna for essentially giving the finger to Kim just because of the fact they're afraid that Kim would come into the company and destroy everything Tegna has been doing to their stations in the last few years) You could say Kim was being a bully in his response but Tegna started it here, not Soo Kim.

  14. A follow-up on this: Soo Kim has responded back to Tegna's baseless claims and I'll just let the quote's from Mr. Kim speak for itself on this one: All I'm gonna say is you might need 2 or 3 boxes of popcorn for this one.

  15. I can only imagine if Gannett remained the same company as it was before the split.... The current "Gannett" is like the rebirth of AT&T, after SBC renamed themselves when the old AT&T was sold off piece by piece. It's technically GateHouse, but under the Gannett branding. Same as Tegna being the old Gannett company and the split company keeping the Gannett name. Usually, the print side is the one to go batty. Gannett is the behemoth in this case and Tegna is treated like an upstart company. One that has trashed many of their stations and the investors are finally clamoring for them to come to their senses. Some stations are too far gone (WXIA, WTSP, WWL, WKYC), others have some hope to them (WBIR, WMAZ, WTOL), and there are the new ones that haven't had the chance to C-Clarity.....yet.

  16. I think Tegna's board might have to think twice about this one because if they think that by telling Kim no will push him away, they are sorely mistaken. The fact that Kim is responding back by bringing some of his people (all of which had YEARS of experience of being in the business) tells me that Soo Kim really wants Tegna and wants Tegna bad. I'm starting to wonder if it was coincidental that Tegna bought stations like WTHR/WBNS, WNEP, WPMT and WOI/KCWI (all of which are in markets that both Kim and McDermott either tried to buy in 2018 or were in those markets when they were in charge of Media General)

  17. I probably would've turned off WKYC from all of my news viewing ever since the "3" era started. I would've been fine watching WEWS or WOIO/WUAB over WKYC's garbage. But my heart would be on WJW, 100% of the time. And considering that WJW is on at the same times as WKYC, except 11PM and some weekend hours, I wouldn't miss it too much at all.

  18. Bumped this up to share that “3News” is using animated versions of their anchors to promote their new 5pm “newscast.” The madness continues.
