  1. Ummm you do realize you’re talking about their air time right? They’re in the building longer than that prepping and such..

  2. They are usually there 1-2 hours before air in addition to what you have there... so their days are rather long as is... some of them may enjoy their jobs so much that they don’t mind working a lot. The old saying about finding a job you love and it not really feeling like work....

  3. I doubt that will happen. Hoda and Savannah have really good chemistry and it's be beyond dumb for NBC to take Lester off of Nightly News when they are in the middle of a close ratings battle with WNT.

  4. Just a Denver update. I head the new SAM package signature on KMGH during the 10p. We'll likely be getting the new graphics soon.

  5. Thought this was important to share. Just saw a Facebook post from Sharyl Attkisson that they are readying a new set for "Full Measure" to debut this Sunday (January 5th). I have attached the pictures she posted. From what I can tell the set looks great.

  6. Looks like NewsNet is coming to my area (WDFL) It's about time, I guess

  7. Let me say this when I made the post I started with. I didn't mean to insinuate they only worked 8 1/2 hours on air and in between. I know that they commonly have long commutes in and also do lots of prep work. I just feel like Ken & Shirleen shouldn't have to spend 8 1/2 hours on broadcasts (and in between stuff) unless it's stipulated. I legitimately apologize.

  8. We've already seen KXTV's coverage of Loma Prieta as it started to unfold—now we have a full, 45-minute (!) 11pm show from that night, and it's a treat with its own special open. Not the only long KXTV aircheck we got in the last week: five and a half minutes of coverage of the Sun Valley Mall plane crash in Concord from 1985. At the time, the station was still using the Tuesday "Spirit of California" theme:

  9. It is a bit strange but it’s a timing preference on WABC’s part. They want a quick transition to the 5pm news to retain the 4pm audience, so they dropped the 5pm talent open years ago (they brought it back briefly during Diana’s last week anchoring). At 11, they want to retain as many primetime viewers as possible so they get right to the news. The 6pm is still seen as the signature newscast of record for the day, so it gets a talent open and “fresh start” rather than the quick transition.

  10. Speculatron thread made. Part of me sees this as Florida Man doing Florida Man things or Grandpa Simpson yelling at a cloud. The other half sees this as potentially catastrophic for Coxpollo. Adding in the ex-Northwest stations, Cox has Fox affiliates in nine other markets. Some of those markets might be a bit difficult to find stations in, The Delta (where Cox has a monopoly) and possibly Jacksonville (WJXT seems to be fine not pursuing a network) among them.

  11. This is probably worthy of it's own thread but I'll post my thoughts here. I think the possibilities does exist as far as a potential affiliation switch is concerned the biggest question mark may come down to this: How dissatisfied is Fox right now with WFXT? Is the negotiations between Cox and Fox not going well in Boston?

  12. Cox acquired WFXT in a trade with Fox for KTVU. I don't think they would want the Fox affiliation taken away.

  14. ABC must be having some kind of master control issue, because this has been happening sometimes on WLS, lately. That's the logo that flashes during the final few seconds of network promos, but it appears that someone or something is failing to turn it off, so it just keeps blinking.

  16. You’re misunderstanding, which seems to be a theme for you. I asked a question about why it doesn’t make sense for Bill to hand off the 6 pm to David so that he isn’t anchoring a 1.5 hour show. And you’re response was to lecture the entire forum on the intricacies of channel 7’s off camera schedules and build sympathy for “long work days.” You’re tone and frustration is stemmed from a suggestion that Shirleen and Ken could anchor the mornings and noon newscasts to allow for greater parity in their evening news schedules? I’m in the craphole known as NYC more often than I’d ever like to be so nice assumption there on your part, again.
