  1. I surely do miss the Jennings era when they actually had WORLD NEWS for the majority of the newscast. Unfortunately overall news distribution has degraded to viral video analysis, online shopping discount notifications, and too much fluff pieces. At this point, they might as well call it GMA: After Dark.

  2. Disney doesn't own the searchlights anyway! Fox Media owns the 20th Century Fox trademarks, and Disney is licensing them on a perpetual, royalty-free basis.

  3. It's this year's image branding. It's not a new logo replacing anything.

  4. Here's a better look at it. It makes a lot more sense and looks cooler if you realize that it's more of an animation treatment of the Fox logo. https://trollback.com/projects/fox-entertainment/

  5. The news about Matt is upsetting because above all he was good at his job and the show was great under his tenure (pre 2013). He had a good thing going for him, all he had to do was not be a jerk. Moreover it was dumb of NBC News to hire Megyn Kelly for $20+ million. What they should have done was improve the 7-9a block with more intellectual story choice then axe the third and fourth hours.

  6. From Chicago, a short WFLD news promo from that brief period in 1987 when the station aired news at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. (an unusual time slot for a Central Time station!), but not at 9 p.m.: By the way, the first "32" logo seen above -- from "Latenight 32" -- was the station's pre-Fox logo. And here are the first seven minutes of a WFLD newscast from the following year:

  7. Matt Lauer was very clearly a pompous ass after Katie left and it was very apparent on the air. I had no idea however that he was a serial predator.

  8. World News Tonight has been a milseading name for years. All three network newscats are a disgrace in this respect.

  9. 1. Google it. KHOU and KPRC are not O&O's. 2. KABC, KGO, and KFSN have differently-colored versions of the same graphics. KTRK's is a different package, period. More 3D effects, different opens, different lower thirds.

  10. Content is key, of course, but THIS ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE. Nice nod by TEGNA and station leadership, for once.

  12. These tiles are so cheap now and are also easily removable that they could be transported to the new building for other uses. Would not surprise me if the screens on the desk were showing burn in. Also I didn't know/remember that the video wall went seamless as well.

  13. Megyn needs to rebrand herself and spilling right wing talking points and saying Jesus is white, is not going to win her any viewers or crossing over. The way she talks is bad if she wants to cross over cause you are trying to appeal to more then just white right leaning men, you want viewership from white liberals, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asians etc. The thing about Megyn Kelly is that she has put herself in a corner cause most of her success came from being female eye candy to right wing leaning viewers. I know she is more than that, she was a former litigator at a big time law firm but how she presented herself at Fox News was a blonde barbie doll host and majority of Fox News female hosts present themselves like barbie dolls. It is hard to escape that typecasting, she tried when she made the big jump at NBC but it is like sticking a Zebra in the North Pole. She does not have that kind of warm fuzzy connection to people to be a morning show host and she got full of herself thinking she can be like an Oprah. Megyn's best bet is to stick to what she is and that is law and politics. There is always going to be a niche for those two areas, don't pretend to be something you are not and going back to Fox News won't change that. She needs to go a place where there is support for women in journalism, she got enough money know it is all about doing what she loves.

  14. Why would it tarnish her at all? Is she only supposed to have well-liked people on her show to talk about cooking and flowers? 60 Minutes correspondents interview unpopular people accused of crimes all the time, and press them on the details of the crimes they are accused of. Why shouldn't she be able to do the same?

  15. Here's (I think) the second half of an airing of Sabado Gigante from Christmas Eve 1988 via Univision affiliate station WLTV 23. There's lots of rare WLTV stuff in this video as well! Timestamp bonus: WLTV 23 "Golden Transmitter" station ID used from 1988-1989.

  16. Or copied it from the New York MTA. I've seen some bad design decisions in my time - working in IT, its inevitable I suppose - but this...I can't even wrap my head around this one.

  17. This is certainly one of the stranger pieces of KPNX ephemera out there... (It's from 1994, not 1989, but you probably could tell anyway.)

  18. Now that the searchlights of 21st Century Fox are no longer part of the brand identify of the New Fox network, they’ve rolled out a rebrand earlier this Fall. I’m curious whether this abstract logo will find its way into local station identities and when the searchlights will start to disappear from local stations with the dated, so-called “kite” logo. more on the rebrand here: https://www.creativebloq.com/news/fox-entertainment-rebrand
