  1. Just happened to be up for Live today, and Kelly and Ryan had a couple minutes towards the end of host chat to say that Tony is indeed retiring, and paid a very nice tribute to him.

  3. I'm getting reports that Mobile's WPMI and WJTC have been restored to DirecTV, so the impasse between Deerfield (and the other shells) & AT&T could be coming to a close..... UPDATE: Official confirmation from WPMI: https://mynbc15.com/news/local/att-and-directv-customers-nbc-15-is-back WHAM: https://13wham.com/news/local/directv-deerfield-media-reach-agreement-for-rochester-tv-market No word on KMTR and KMEG appears to still be off, as well, since they are separately owned but still run by Sinclair.

  5. I was going to say that was peak Udell market wise then looked online and saw he did stints in LA and NY early on. He figured out settling down in Hawaii though...long long run there. Looking good in retirement here

  6. At this point, it might be less time-consuming to come up with a list of markets where Udell hasn't worked! He didn't stay long at any particular station, did he? Here he is during his second stint in Chicago:

  9. We've seen this before, but this is how Udell was introduced to WTHR in Indianapolis back in 1976; the promos were either done by Joe Sedelmaier (of WLS and Wendy's "Where's the beef?" fame) or by someone closely imitating his style:

  10. What I gather from the article is that their back of office/management is probably sloppy compared to how Nexstar runs things. I think KTLA had a lot of autonomy in how management ran the station and probably that was the case at most Tribune stations. Nexstar appears to run a much tighter ship with many corporate policies. My assumption is that KTLA probably has lax policies that Nexstar thinks need to be tightened. KTLA's on-air product isn't the issue as they have solid #1 ratings in almost all of their timeslots. I wouldn't expect a shakeup in talent as its currently stable and is working. The shakeup will come in the form of management.

  11. So... Out in Atlanta lets just say that blurred lines don't fair too well. This particular journalist has had problems in her past. However, she really stooped to an all time low and the station had the nerve to re-tweet it. I'm no New England Fan, but you (Shon Gables) all the way in Atlanta trying to incite a real problem. Tom Brady didn't call Ed Reed the N word... Ed Reed was at the game on Sunday night and Baltimore gave New England their first loss in a semi-blowout 37-20, but what really shocked me (NOT) was the Gables tweet stating that Brady called Reed the N-word.. Mind you: Yes, Reed and Brady faced each other and New England has had problems with Baltimore in the past. However, it doesn't give you a right to say something outright nasty. Reed is a hall of famer, Brady is a shoe-in for the hall of fame. I'm glad that Ed Reed and his reps responded to the tweet. Shame on CBS46 Atlanta, and Shon Gables.. I wasn't really a fan of hers when she came to WCBSTV and CBS News. So for her to stoop that low is no surprise to me..

  12. It's a retrospective...in a retrospective as WCIA's historical archive segment digs up a story about 25 years of newsman (and ND) Dave Shaul:

  17. My verdict on WBTV's new graphics, it's pretty damn good. Although it's something I'll get used to as well.

  18. Does Gray mandate that stations must spell at least one word wrong per newscast per station? "Autospy" on WLBT and "alamanc" on WBTV. Embarrassing...

  22. The Charlotte stations being sold is a mild surprise. Not so much WITI (previously a FOX O&O following the absorption of New World Communications until it and several other smaller O&O's were sold) or the KCPQ/KZJO duopoly (FOX apparently has been eyeing them for years going back at least to 2014 {with the reverse compensation dispute that saw FOX threatening to pull their affiliation, which would have ended the day before the 2014 NFC Championship Game})
