  1. They must be going back to the drawing board to rethink the show formats. Traditionally for them, the noon news was predominately a hard news show and when they expanded it to an hour, they had the lighter stuff towards the back end of the second half hour. When the 4PM launched, it was faster paced with the news and features were dispersed through out. The 5PM has always been longer form hard news. With Alicia possibly joining the noon (perhaps only for the 2nd half hour) maybe they want the noon show to become like (or replace) the 4PM and have the 4PM become a harder news show to compete with 10 at 4. As of right now, 10's the only station in that timeslot doing a full hard news hour. 3's doing a complete fluff show (hell they sit on damn couch) and 6 is trying to do both and perhaps they want to get away from that.

  2. For those that wanted to see the news open of WGBO Noticias 66 with the original 1996-2001 look instead of the secondary one, then here ya go! WCIU Informacion 26 news clip from the 1990s

  3. You've just rebranded your station. It's an expensive rebrand, too: new logo, new set, new anchors, new call letters. But your "Recorded Earlier" late news repeat open...hasn't changed in about two years. With that important comment, I present to you...KNSD in October 1988:

  4. So if you haven't noticed, it's been 60 years since RTP's flagship newscast "Telejornal" and to honor it, they have a new intro and a modified theme song of their newscast as well.

  5. This has some variations: WCSH/WLBZ went from "NewsCenter Mornings" to "wakeMEup". This pun both works and is cheezy as heck.

  7. Oh, dear. I'm not on the thread I thought I was. Sorry.

  8. I wonder why they had a special open for the rebroadcast, rather than just slapping a "Recorded Earlier" tag on the screen like most other stations.

  9. Not sure if this deserves its own thread, but this graphics package has (for better or for worse) been immortalized on network TV thanks to NBC's Bluff City Law, which has so far used WMC's set, live van, mic flags, and, of course, graphics as part of the show. The only thing not included... actual station talent. To echo one of the tweets below, it's impressive how much effort was put in to make the scenes feel like they really came from WMC. Although I can't say I care at all for the show's use of Calibri over the supplied blank lower third. (Can't believe I'd ever think the Helvetica looks better!) I'm sure better screengrabs can be taken from the show if streamed live on nbc.com, I just haven't had the time to watch it. (Frankly, this interests me more than the show itself, haha) https://twitter.com/JaredJayBBoyd/status/1179027816043692033 https://twitter.com/kendall_downing/status/1178859750307565570 https://twitter.com/MemphoNewsLady/status/1184973449904754689

  10. Alicia was mentioned in the closing of the 5pm. If these are permanent pairings, it’s kind of sad to see Rick and Sarah broken up. Also, I feel like it’s a slap in the face to Sarah if she is not given the 4pm or 5pm as she well deserves it.

  11. Seems like something’s definitely up. Jeanette Reyes co-anchored at 4pm with Brian, and Sarah filled in for Alicia doing the features. The 4:30pm rejoin mentioned Sharrie in it, but she was not included in the close. But she gave the 5pm preview, and is now anchoring the 5pm with Rick. And Alicia was in studio at 5pm doing a story!!!

  12. Question is for how long. I'm sure that if Gray wanted to extort Nexstar/WFFF for the affiliation they could.

  15. Nexstar acquiring it won’t affect the cap at all. Not sure I agree with the independent assessment. At least MNTV provides two hours of programming every night.

  17. WUAB TV turned 50 this year so what do you to celebrate? Bring back the original 10 Clock news to anchor the news. Minus the late Gib Shanley. Enjoy the retro open rewind.
