They must be going back to the drawing board to rethink the show formats. Traditionally for them, the noon news was predominately a hard news show and when they expanded it to an hour, they had the lighter stuff towards the back end of the second half hour. When the 4PM launched, it was faster paced with the news and features were dispersed through out. The 5PM has always been longer form hard news. With Alicia possibly joining the noon (perhaps only for the 2nd half hour) maybe they want the noon show to become like (or replace) the 4PM and have the 4PM become a harder news show to compete with 10 at 4. As of right now, 10's the only station in that timeslot doing a full hard news hour. 3's doing a complete fluff show (hell they sit on damn couch) and 6 is trying to do both and perhaps they want to get away from that.

KGUN STILL has the Journal graphics, and that sale closed years ago. They don't rush like some of the other companies.

You've just rebranded your station. It's an expensive rebrand, too: new logo, new set, new anchors, new call letters. But your "Recorded Earlier" late news repeat open...hasn't changed in about two years. With that important comment, I present to you...KNSD in October 1988:

For the first time ever we are able to screen one of the most scary documentary's ever...maybe even TOO SCARY for TVNT and it's younger visitors. It's the story of a TV logo that terrified at least 10 or more children and other assorted bedwetters in the golden days of television. https://horrorfreaknews.com/s-hell-bizarre-doc-explains-tv-logo-traumatized-generation It even scares me. Happy Halloween my little TVNT goblins.

So if you haven't noticed, it's been 60 years since RTP's flagship newscast "Telejornal" and to honor it, they have a new intro and a modified theme song of their newscast as well.

I Saw on FTVLive this morning FTVLive BNC that some dude named J.C. Watts Jr. & his business partner Bob Brillante are starting the "Black News Channel" to be targeted at young African Americans, and it is to launch this fall on Dish Network, Comcast & Charter. I wonder if this will get off the ground or not? something tells me this is going to fail, but then again if NewsNet can do it why can't these folks. They have been planning for this since May 2017. Their website say the headquarters & master control are going to be located in Tallahassee, FL, with bureaus in Atlanta, Washington D.C., New York City, L.A., Chicago & New Orleans. Any one else think this logo kind of looks like Master Card's logo? www.blacknewschannel.com

There's some weirdness with the graphics. It's nice but there's a few little odds and ends that, if they cleaned them up, would make the package great. The combination of set and graphics is probably their best cohesive look since the 1998 graphics and set debut.

This has some variations: WCSH/WLBZ went from "NewsCenter Mornings" to "wakeMEup". This pun both works and is cheezy as heck.

I wonder why they had a special open for the rebroadcast, rather than just slapping a "Recorded Earlier" tag on the screen like most other stations.

Not sure if this deserves its own thread, but this graphics package has (for better or for worse) been immortalized on network TV thanks to NBC's Bluff City Law, which has so far used WMC's set, live van, mic flags, and, of course, graphics as part of the show. The only thing not included... actual station talent. To echo one of the tweets below, it's impressive how much effort was put in to make the scenes feel like they really came from WMC. Although I can't say I care at all for the show's use of Calibri over the supplied blank lower third. (Can't believe I'd ever think the Helvetica looks better!) I'm sure better screengrabs can be taken from the show if streamed live on nbc.com, I just haven't had the time to watch it. (Frankly, this interests me more than the show itself, haha) https://twitter.com/JaredJayBBoyd/status/1179027816043692033 https://twitter.com/kendall_downing/status/1178859750307565570 https://twitter.com/MemphoNewsLady/status/1184973449904754689

Alicia was mentioned in the closing of the 5pm. If these are permanent pairings, it’s kind of sad to see Rick and Sarah broken up. Also, I feel like it’s a slap in the face to Sarah if she is not given the 4pm or 5pm as she well deserves it.
15. 1 point
Seems like something’s definitely up. Jeanette Reyes co-anchored at 4pm with Brian, and Sarah filled in for Alicia doing the features. The 4:30pm rejoin mentioned Sharrie in it, but she was not included in the close. But she gave the 5pm preview, and is now anchoring the 5pm with Rick. And Alicia was in studio at 5pm doing a story!!!

WTVG has had those graphcs since the summer, at the very least. Vid courtesy of Daniel Garcia Media from YT.

Looks like WTVG 13ABC in Toledo also picked up the latest Gray Tv Graphics Package. Seems to be a more cobalt blue than other Former-Raycom stations are getting. Also the open is more like what WMC has than the others have been getting.

No more musical performances during the Genesis Halftime Show.
20. 1 point
Question is for how long. I'm sure that if Gray wanted to extort Nexstar/WFFF for the affiliation they could.
21. 1 point
You're going to be waiting for a good minute. For one thing, I would wait until the Nexstar option lapse. And no telling when a "possible" new graphics debut on the other stations.
22. 1 point
Yes, that is correct. NBCSN is doing a good job with these new graphics. However, what's very bad is NBC Sports Philadelphia is completely bascura with their ticker.. SMH.
23. 1 point
Yeah, It's the NBC Sports ticker. They adapt it to focus on whatever sport is being presented live, but then during regular studio shows, it runs through all sports.

Altitude is pulling a page out of the Dodgers' playbook. Also, I see that the "genius" at Altitude, Matt Hutchings, was also in charge of the ill-fated CSN Houston earlier in the decade. Hutchings cannot get a carriage deal done if one bit him in the behind.

So there's a video of someone sharing their opinion of Jeff Zucker? Wow, what a bombshell. An employee has unfavorable interpretation of his boss' views. ::yawn::

Does that only apply to national news? So could he still go to local news? Even though a major market lead anchor role would be a downgrade.
35. 1 point
Tough decision. I know many of their viewers want more punditry (pro-Trump that is) but that is loaded with risks.
36. 1 point
I can't see him downgrading to that level. I see CNN or CBS News in his future. I'm guessing Fox keeps that hour for news and extends Daily Briefing with Dana Perino to two hours.
37. 1 point
That's weird. NBCS Chicago has used theirs occasionally for breaking news and programming announcements, even after dumping it for scores and headlines. No reason why it should be completely scrubbed from the system, with THAT being the alternative.

This logo is perfect... if NESN is an electric and energy consortion or animal preservation group or music company that shills re-recorded easy listening compilation albums. I'll wait until I see it motion, but for now this creation doesn't fit this network's brand of local sports one bit. (Golf, maybe, but not everything else).

I wonder, if anyone, will cave first as Comcast & DISH have business interest in Metro Denver while AT&T owns Altitude's competitor, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain. Let's see what happens when games begin in October.
42. 1 point
When are some of these companies that are resistant to change going to wake up and realize that streamming is the future? Clearly Stan Kroenke hates streamming and yet he's building a futuristic-type NFL stadium for the Rams and Chargers in the Los Angeles area (Inglewood to be more specific). Hypocracy much?
43. 1 point
That may be nice in theory but even if they did that, I'd bet the pressures of the spotlight of being on CNN would slowly change the show into what we have now on CNN. The format of New Day right now is quite different from how it debuted. CNN has an addiction to its talking heads format seen throughout most of their shows all day long (and they aren't the only ones). Morning Express being on HLN can kinda do its own thing, hidden away so to speak.
44. 1 point
Just like their b r i l l i a n tbranding of their LTE network as "5G E"...(I'm not going to hold my breath, lest it be a full time Adult Swim channel...but I digress.)
45. 1 point
The should just sell HLN and take the cash. Convert truTV to "Turner Sports" and have March Madness and the PGA Tour on the same channel, the advertisement dollar on that channel would be insane. And yes it would be sad, CNN/WarnerMedia/AT&T/Jeff Zucker have single handedly ruined what was once the greatest source of real news. I wouldn't be surprised if someone or a group had interest in buying HLN, either keep it the same "news by day, crime by night" or return it to Headline News. (what would HLN sell for?) Either way it seems that WarnerMedia/AT&T wants to cut costs and find some cash, and they won't let anything stop them from doing that.
46. 1 point
Nexstar acquiring it won’t affect the cap at all. Not sure I agree with the independent assessment. At least MNTV provides two hours of programming every night.
47. 1 point
I think they're best bet at this point is turning into a CNN2 (whether in name or by action). That would mean supplementary and complementary shows to CNN. Maybe an extra hour of Anderson, replays of news shows, some CNN International simulcasts, new programs anchored by existing CNN names. ESPN does it with success. FBN is more or less FOX News 2 (they're very heavily politically focused). Either that or shut down the network because soft news didn't work, and Forensic Files isn't working that well either. That's my two cents
How was you able to get a copy of the style guide?
@Weeters has connections everywhere because of his actual news / station experience. He has sources all over from NY to DC to LA.

That's the "sports" variant of the OTS template. It's existed forever. Someone sent me a copy of the style guide once so, just to prove it...

If Fox is willing to compete with the Big Three they need to be different than the big three, what I mean by that I mean give the affiliates an option to air it at 7:30e/6:30c instead of 6:30e/5:30c this way if the affiliates want to continue doing the 5:30c/6:30e local newscast they can have the option to do it. This way the network is happy and the affiliates/O&Os are happy as well
