  1. If Norah gets the boot, who do you think should anchor the CBS Evening News? IMO, I would pick... Shepard Smith.

  2. Going by the Scripps Milwaukee MO and since they're both ESPN Radio stations, the WBNS stations would fit like a glove with Good Karma, which is already up in Cleveland and after the WMVP management deal, is a buyer for sure, and they would overpay to be the Ohio State flagship. Saga is more music-heavy outside of dominant markets than a runner of talk stations.

  3. You guys are mentioning ratings from 10/15+ years ago. It's a different time now. Numbers are going to keep going down in this day and age. People don't watch Evening News broadcasts. Period.

  4. She has only been in this position for four months now. Substantial change doesn't happen overnight.

  5. Doubt the move will change anything, Norah is just not anchor material. Hopefully these numbers continue trending downward until CBS decides to make real changes.

  6. Shepard Smith would be a great choice, he or Ann Curry.

  7. I would too. Shep would be perfect for any high-power gig, but a CBS gig like Evening News would be his best career move, period.

  8. Zirinsky, and CBS management need to go. I mean GO like yesterday! Walter and Dan had better ratings than this. I'm not 100% if Katie Couric had good ratings. But I bet a bit better than Norah. What a sad day in CBSEN

  9. It’s raining Tulsa: KTUL still using John B. Wells by 1989 KJRH kept using the same theme even during the morning hours (Russell Kinsaul worked there?!) One of the earliest “6 in the Mornings” on YT And Doc Morgan is a BIT TOO cheerful here.

  10. I don't agree. I don't think the FCC can control business negotiations between two parties. That's just the way business sometimes works.

  11. Nope! This show is bleeding out fast... Remember that uncle Walter used to play to 29 million viewers each evening. That was in 1976, and the population of the USA was only 200 million people. Nora barely gets 5 million viewers per show. https://nypost.com/2019/10/20/cbs-anchor-norah-odonnells-ratings-in-freefall/

  12. I can get WNEP given its market dominance and how the market is screwy as it is. But where is the outrage over WPMT, a Fox affiliate which at best is #3 in a market that is dominated by someone else? I'd get outrage if this was WGAL, but WPMT!? I would think that KFSM would have more outrage going for it than WPMT. I think the problem there is that the rot left by Newport (and Clear Channel before them) was so bad that given how Nexstar is as a company that they did all that they could do. Thinking of the other stations Nexstar got from Newport, most of them were messes save for WSYR, WETM, and KGET and some needed drastic action to survive let alone thrive.

  13. Here at the KBEX-TV Museum of News History ..we have an active display of vintage "Lawn Darts". Wayyyyyyy more fun! But one day the adults ruined it... I miss lawn darts.
